Under optimum conditions (e.g. during sailing or paragliding) PMR

446 radio sets have a maximum reach of 10 km. In housing areas a

range of 1 - 2 km is realistic, in strongly screened environment (e.g.

in the mountains or inside buildings made of reinforced concrete) the

reach may drop to a few hundred meters or less.
