Programmable lateral function keys SK1 and SK2
Two different functions can respectively be assigned to the two lateral function keys. Function 1
is activated or deactivated through a short keystroke on the respective the function key, function 2
through a long keystroke (the duration of the keystroke for activating function 2 can be adjusted
from 1 to 5 sec.).

By briefly pressing function key 1 (factory setting) the squelch is permanently open (during free
radio communication). By pressing the key once again, the squelch is closed again.
By pressing the key when the pilot tone process (CTCSS/DCS) is activated, the receiver muting
is deactivated. Pressing the key once again leads to a new activation of the received muting.
Scrambler
Speech scrambling prevents that your transmission can be tapped without further auxiliaries by
unauthorized persons.
Through a long keystroke on the lateral function key 1 (factory setting), the scrambler function
is activated (announcement voice encrypt ON). By pressing the key once again, the scrambler
function is deactivated (announcement voice encrypt OFF).
Note: Enable this feature on all radio sets involved.
Battery Power Check
By briefly pressing the lateral function key 2 (factory setting and when the speech announcement
is activated), the capacity of the battery is checked. Depending on the state of charge, the announce-
ment power high (capacity of battery pack of 100 % - 65 %); power middle (65 % - 30 %), power
low (30 % - 10 %) or Please charge battery (5 % - 10 % = Please charge battery) sounds.
Battery-low warning
If the capacity of the battery pack drops to less than 10 %, the red status LED flashes and the
announcement Please charge battery sounds.
When pressing the PTT button now, an alarm tone sounds and transmission is impossible. Please
charge or change the battery pack.
Connecting an external (optional) VOX headset (whisper VOX)
Activate the VOX function through a long keystroke on the lateral function key 2 (factory setting);
announcement VOX ON.
