4. PHYSICAL AND SAFETY DATA
Wood-cased coloured pencil, with aquarellable lead, made from finest pigments, based on a
self-emulsifying wax combination. Completely lacquered in the lead-colour dipped end-cap with
lead-coloured/white „Swan“ logo. 8 colours.
When stored and used properly, no hazardous reactions can be expected. In case of fire,
carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO
2
) and with some colours nitric oxides (NO
x
)
will be set free as thermal decomposition products.
The graphite pencil writes on virtually any surfaces, e.g. glass, plastic, metal. Even when used
correctly, irremovable staining may occur on some open-pored surfaces (e.g. textiles and some
plastic materials). The pencils should be stored at room temperature (22 °C) and with
controlled humidity (65 % rH).
In case of contact with the eyes, rinse out open eye thoroughly under running water
for several minutes. If complaints persist, contact an ophthalmologist.
Based on the Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 („REACH“), this commercial product is not a hazardous
substance, a hazardous mixture or a hazardous substance in an article. Therefore a Safety Data Sheet is
not required according to article 31 of the REACH Regulation.
5. TRANSPORT INFORMATION
Not classified as dangerous goods with respect to the transport regulations.
6. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION / DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS
The product may be added to the household waste in small quantities. Larger quantities are
to be disposed of under compliance with local public authority regulations, e.g. at a suitable
waste disposal site or incinerator.
The raw-materials, used in the pencil and in its lacquer, do not have environmental consequences,
as they are sufficiently adsorbed in the activated sludge of sewage works and eliminated from the
water. Graphite is not soluble in water, the wax combination used is fully biodegradable. The wood,
used for the manufacturing of the pencils, is a natural re-growing material from managed plantations
and fully biodegradable.
