Spyderco’s distinctive SLIPIT
™
knives represent a quantum leap in non-locking folders.
They combine an improved non-locking mechanism, a pocket clip for convenient carry, and
one-handed operation via our Trademark Round Hole to set a new standard in pocketknife
performance. SLIPITS also feature an index finger choil that provides a comfortable purchase
for the index finger during use and helps prevent accidental closure of the blade.
Another form of non-locking folder is a slipjoint, which uses spring pressure to keep the blade
open during use. When the knife is opened, a spring in the back of the handle applies pressure
against a flat spot on the tang of the blade, holding it firmly in place. Slipjoints are socially
friendly and legally permissible almost everywhere. Our approach to slipjoint knives combines
the best of classic craftsmanship, with contemporary design. The round hole is easily gripped
with the tips of the thumb and index finger to open the blade.

he UK Penknife was developed after the United Kingdom
prohibited the carry of folding knives with locking blades.
Unlike a traditional slipjoint, it features an improved notched joint
mechanism and two other Spyderco defining features of the modern
folding knife: a pocket clip for convenient carry and our Trademark
Round Hole for easy, ambidextrous one-handed opening. It is
available with either a leaf-shaped or drop-point blade design,
both featuring opposing jimping on the thumb ramp and index-
finger choil for positive control. The UK Penknife is manufactured
in Spyderco’s Golden, Colorado Factory with an FRCP (fiberglass
reinforced co-polymer) lightweight handle and premium U.S.A.
made CTS BD1 blade.
