Introduction
Variable Display in Dialog Boxes
Either variable names or longer variable labels will appear in list boxes in dialog
boxes. Additionally, variables in list boxes can be ordered alphabetically or by their
position in
the file.
In this guide, we will display variable labels in alphabetical order within list boxes.
For a new user of SPSS, this provides a more complete description of variables in
an easy-to-
follow order.
Since the default setting within SPSS is to display variable labels in file order, we
will change this before accessing data.

Options..

Select Dis
play labels
in the Variable Lists group on the General tab.

OK to confirm the change.
Opening a Data File
Before you can analyze data, you need some data to analyze.
To open a data file:

Open
Data...
