SpotCell 100, Release 1.0
Radio Fre-
quency Interfer-
ence RFI
Any unwanted signal generated by any source
that produces RF signals at the same fre-
quency and along the same path of another
RF signal wave.
Radio Fre-
quency RF
Any frequency within the electromagnetic
spectrum normally associated with radio wave
propagation.
SpotCell 100 The purpose of the Adaptive Personal
Repeater is to enable personal cellular com-
munications in specific locations within a ser-
vice area where high path loss would normally
prevent the use of a mobile phone, for exam-
ple inside a building, or at the cell boundary.
Subscriber Cov-
erage Unit SCU
This is the SpotCell 100 system element that
is installed to provide service by creating a
Personal Wireless Space for the subscriber.
This unit is intended for indoor operation.
Wide-area
repeaters
Wide-area repeaters have similar coverage
footprints to cellular base-stations. They are
used to extend service beyond a cell to an
area where the traffic is low, because they
“steal” channel capacity from the donor cell
site. Employing high power transmitters, these
are also expensive systems to deploy.
