To fit child 6-10 yrs (Adult).
GAUGE
13 hdc and 10 rows = 4" [10 cm].
INSTRUCTIONS
The instructions are written for smaller size.
If changes are necessary for larger size the
instructions will be written thus ( ).
Note: Chain (ch) 2 at beginning (beg) of
round (rnd) does not count as stitch (st).
To change color, work to last loops on hook
of rst color, yarn over hook (yoh) with new
color and proceed. Carry color not in use
loosely up Wrong Side (WS) of work.
With A, chain (ch) 66 (72). Join with slip
stitch (sl st) to rst chain (ch) to form a
ring, taking care not to twist chain.
1st round (rnd): Ch 2. 1 half double
crochet (hdc) in each ch around.
Join with sl st to rst hdc. 66 (72) hdc.
2nd rnd: Ch 2. 1 hdc in each hdc around.
Join MC with sl st to rst hdc. Break A.
3rd rnd: With MC, ch 2. Working into back
loops only, 1 hdc in each hdc around.
Join with sl st to rst hdc.
Rep 3rd rnd until Hat from beg measures
4 (6)" [10 (15) cm].
Shape crown: Next rnd: Ch 2. Working
into back loops only, 1 hdc in each of next
4 hdc. [Yarn over hook (yoh) and draw up
a loop in next hdc] twice. Yoh and draw
through all loops on hook - Hdc2together
(Hdc2tog) made. *1 hdc in each of next
4 hdc. Hdc2tog. Repeat (rep) from *
around. Join A with sl st to rst hdc.
55 (60) stitches (sts). Break MC.
Next rnd: With A, ch 2. *1 hdc in each of
next 3 hdc. Hdc2tog. Rep from * around.
Join with sl st to rst hdc. 44 (48) sts.
Next rnd: Ch 2. *1 hdc in each of next
2 hdc. Hdc2tog. Rep from * around. Join
with sl st to rst hdc. 33 (36) sts.
Next rnd: Ch 2. *1 hdc in next hdc.
Hdc2tog. Rep from * around. Join with
sl st to rst hdc. 22 (24) sts.
Next rnd: Ch 2. *Hdc2tog. Rep from *
around. Join with sl st to rst st. 11 (12) sts.
Fasten o, leaving a long end. Draw end
tightly through rem sts and
fasten securely.
Pompom: Wind MC around 4 ngers 150
times. Tie tightly in the middle and leave
a long end for attaching to Hat. Cut loops
at both ends and trim to smooth round
shape. Sew securely to top of Hat.
