Child 2/4 yrs (Child 6/8 yrs – Adult)
GAUGE
9 sts and 12 rows = 4" [10 cm] with larger needles in stocking st.
INSTRUCTIONS
With A and set of smaller needles, cast on 30 (38-46) sts. Divide sts onto
3 needles. Join in rnd, placing marker on rst st.
1st rnd: *K1. P1. Rep from * around.
Rep last rnd for (K1. P1) ribbing until work from beg measures 2½ (3-4)"
[6 (7.5-10) cm]. Break A.
With MC and set of larger needles, knit in rnds until work from beg
measures 6 (7-9)" [15 (18-23) cm].
Shape top: 1st rnd: [K3 (4-5). K2tog] 6 times. K0 (2-4). 24 (32-40) sts.
2nd rnd: Knit.
3rd rnd: *K1 (2-3). K2tog. Rep from * around. 16 (24-32) sts.
Sizes 6/8 yrs and Adult only: 4th rnd: Knit.
5th rnd: *K(1-2). K2tog. Rep from * around. (16-24) sts.
Size Adult only: 6th rnd: Knit.
7th rnd: *K1. K2tog. Rep from * around. 16 sts.
All sizes: Next rnd: (K2tog) 8 times. Break yarn, leaving a long end.
Thread end through rem sts and draw up tightly. Fasten securely.
POMPOM
Wind A around 4 ngers approx 40 (50-60)
times. Remove from ngers and tie tightly in
center. Cut through each side of loops. Trim to a
smooth round shape. Attach to top of Hat.
