Button Band: Work as for Buttonhole
Band along left sleeve raglan edge ,
omitting all references to buttonholes.
Sew sleeve and side seams to markers
to create side vents. Sew on buttons
to correspond to buttonholes.
HAT
Note: Hat is sized for 6-12 (18-
24) mos.
With MC and smaller needles cast
on 87 (92) sts.
Work 9 rows in garter st (knit every
row), noting rst row is WS and
inc 4 sts evenly across last row.
91 (96) sts.
Change to larger needles and work
in stocking st until work from beg
measures 4 (4¼)" [10 (11) cm],
ending on a purl row.
Shape top: 1st row: (RS). *K16
(17). K2tog. Rep from * to last st. K1.
86 (91) sts.
2nd and alt rows: Purl.
3rd row: *K15 (16). K2tog. Rep
from * to last st. K1. 81 (86) sts.
5th row: *K14 (15). K2tog. Rep
from * to last st. K1. 76 (81) sts.
7th row: *K13 (14). K2tog. Rep
from * to last st. K1. 71 (76) sts.
Cont in this manner, dec 5 sts evenly
spaced as established on RS rows
until 11 sts rem.
Break yarn, leaving a long end.
Draw end tightly through rem sts.
Sew center back seam.
Pompom
Wind A around 3 ngers approx
60 times. Remove from ngers and
tie tightly in center. Cut through
each side of loops. Trim to a smooth
round shape. Sew to end of Hat.
