• Tell your regular doctor(s) or healthcare providers that you have a stimulator device. Do not
undergoanyelectivemedicalprocedureswithoutfirs tdiscussingthemwithyourphysician.Some
medical devices or therapies, such as those listed below, may interfere with your stimulator
device:
o Electrocautery–
Electricprobetocauterizebloodvesselsandstopbleedingduringsurgery.
o Lithotripsy–Shockwavestobreakupgallstonesandkidneystones.
o TherapeuticRadiation–Usedtodestroycancercells.
o High‐output ultrasound – Sound waves to treat bone and muscle injuries, or to stimulate
muscleorimprove
bloodflow.
o RFAblation–Radiofrequencyenergytocausecontrolledtissueda mage.
o MicrowaveAblation–Alternatingelectricfieldtocausecontrolledtissuedamage.
o Dentalprocedures,electrolysis,staticfieldtherapeuticmagnetsanddiagnosticX‐ray.
• Appoint a family member or friend to tell emergency medical personnel
that you have a
stimulator device, in case you need emergency care. You will be given a Medical Alert Card to
carry with you. This card will inform emergency medical pers onnel that you have a stimulator
device.
Ifyouhaveanyconcernsaboutyourstimulatordevice,contactyourdoc torduringnormal
businesshours.
