4. Retrac tthestyletintotheneedlesothatitisretr actedbeyondthetipofthesheath.
5. Turnthesheathawayfromtheopeningoftheforamenandpushouttheleadsothata
loopiscr eatedintheepiduralsp ace.
WARNING:Failureto put aloop in the epidural space mayresult in lead migrationand
maylead toaproceduretorevisetheposition.
6. Removethesheathcompletelywhileholdingforwardpressureonthele ad.
WARNING:Whenremovingthesheath,verifythatthesteeringwingisnomorethan90
degreesmisalignedwiththemarkonthe needle.Failuretodosomayresultindamage
tothesheath.
WARNING:If the sheath has been kinked during delivery, slowly retract through the
needle with the curve facing the same direction as the bevel. If resistance is
encountered,pullouttheneedleandthenproceedto removethesheath.Failuretodo
socandamageorcuttheleadorsheath.
