WARNING:Failureto put aloop in the epidural space mayresult in lead migrationand
maylead toaproceduretorevisetheposition.
5. Removethesheathcompletelywhileholdingforwardpressureonthele ad.
WARNING:Whenremovingthesheath, verify thatthesteeringwingis nomorethan90
degreesmisalignedwiththemarkonthe needle.Failuretodosomayresultindamage
to the sheath.Before reinserting sheath, verify there is no damage to the bend of the
sheath.
6. Remove the needle following the same procedure.It is recommended that the desired
paresthesiabere‐testedaftertheremovalofthe deliverysystem componentsbutbefore
the complete removal of the stylet.With the external TNS amplitude set to 0 µA,
reconnecttheConnec tor Cableasdescribedbefor e.
WARNING:If the sheath has been kinked during delivery, slowly retract through the
needle with the curve facing the same direction as the bevel.Failure to do so can
damageor cuttheleadorsheath.Ifresistanceisencountered,pulltheneedleoutofthe
epiduralspaceandthenremovethe sheath.
WARNING:Donotuseexcessiveforceifthe lea d needs toberemoved.Excessiveforce
maycauseleadfracture.
7. RecordtheleadpositionwithbothanA/Pandlateralfluoroscopicviewforcomparisonof
thepositionattimeofclosuretoensurethattheleadhasnotmoved.Remove
thestylet
byholdingforw ardpressureontheleadwhileretractingthestylet.
WARNING:Use extreme care when removing the lead sty let, the delivery sheath, and
the needle, to insure that the distal tip of the lead rem ains in the desired lo cation.
