" width.
Horizontal tracks, including at the bottom of the Opening, are
47-1/2" long (31-3/4" in retail kits) and can be shortened with a
hacksaw. They are screwed to the jambs of the wall opening with
stainless steel screws supplied with the Speedset anchor brackets
which snap into predrilled 1/8"
holes at the top ends of the
horizontals. If holes need to be
drilled, use a factory predrilled
piece as a template for their
precise location. To reach the
jambs of the Opening, which is
1/4" wider than the panel, factory
supplied horizontals measure
47-1/2" for 6 blocks (in retail kits
31-3/4" for 4 blocks). Compare
with widths in table of panel
dimensions. Also remember this
extra 1/4" when shortening hori-
zontal track with your hacksaw.
Note: Dry fit assembly before final
installation for best fit.

blocks, which have

profiles and are

maller. See separate
outline.
Speedset horizontal track may be cut to size with a hacksaw.
Where necessary, use parts of two horizontal tracks per row of
blocks, the two sections coming within 1/4" of each other in the
middle of different blocks as row follows upon row.
Speedset panels can be assembled on any solid surface or into a
solid Opening provided they are surrounded by structural
elements. Glass blocks are not loadbearing. It is important to
size/adjust wall Openings so that their width and height are 1/4"
larger than the glass block assembly.

Finish panel by shooting
continuous beads of silicone into
all joints, both horizontally and
vertically, sealing the joints.
Remove excess silicone with a
plastic spoon, then pull the spoon
and press it down steadily to pack
the silicone and make the joints
concave.
Seal both sides of the panel this
way, and allow to cure for 48
hours. Finally, caulk the perimeter
edges on both sides of the panel
with acrylic latex caulk (observe
the manufacturer’s recommenda-
tions). Remove any silicone on
block surfaces with a single edge
razor blade.
Tip: Prior to sealing joints clean any primer overspray or other film off
glass block. This step will greatly enhance the final appearance of
your panel. It will also provide better silicone adhesion.
Tip: For additional assembly strength anchor every second block in
the uppermost row to the top of the Opening. In this case, install
anchors into the vertical track and attach to top of the Opening.

Note:
Other than the horizontal track
across the bottom of the
Opening, there is no track
between the blocks and the
Opening, neither along the
jambs nor across the top of the
Opening.
Upon completion of a horizontal

ow, center it so that the

learance is the same at either
side. Then place the next
horizontal on top, anchor it to
the jambs and repeat Step 2 until
the panel is fully assembled. If
necessary, slide the last-but-one
block over to the corner and
install the last block without a
vertical, forcing a generous
amount of silicone between
these last two blocks, perhaps
using a flat tool to press the last
block in place, if you exceeded
the sizes per table.
