3. Get started
CAUTION
Before you connect the device, rst read the
Safety instructions [3].
Charging the battery
• Charge the built-in battery before you use the device for
the rst time or if you haven’t used it for an extended time
period.
• If the battery is completely discharged and your device
turns o, allow the battery to charge for a while before
you turn on the device.
• A complete recharge cycle for normally discharged bat-
teries takes about 3 hours.
• If you haven't used your device for an extended time peri-
od, the battery might be deeply discharged. In this case, a
complete recharge cycle takes about 6 hours.
• The device should be charged every 6 months even when
not used, to prevent the battery from completely draining
(deep discharge).
NOTE
The included USB power supply unit is a US
standard power supply. Depending on your re-
gion, you might need to use the supplied outlet
adapters to t regional power outlets.
CAUTION
Use only the original power supply unit. Using a
dierent power supply unit may damage the de-
vice.
Charge via USB power supply unit
X During charging, the battery LED glows orange.
X When charging is complete, the battery LED glows green.
Charge via docking station
NOTE
• If you charge your device via docking station,
make sure that the micro USB connector is
connected to the USB port for charging marked
with 5V DC.
• The SpeechMike might get warm when charg-
ing it in the docking station. This is normal, es-
pecially when you are charging the device for a
longer time.
CAUTION
Make sure that there are no metallic parts in the
docking station, otherwise the charging process is
not possible. In this case, the battery LED on the
docking station starts ashing red.
