Element Replacement
Instructions (for filters with
replaceable elements)
Assembly
Note the correct component
assembly sequence in the following
diagram. Place the element (a) over
the center shaft until it rests against
the OUTLET end (b). Install the nut
(c) on the center shaft and tighten
until it seats against the element (a).
The element should be snug against
the end (c).
WARNING!
Read all instructions on this sheet
completely before changing element or
installing fuel filter! Failure to follow
these instructions can result in the risk
of fuel fire, loss of property, injury to
self and others and possible death!
Use extreme care with installation.

Disassembly
1. Remove filter assembly from vehicle.
2. Carefully loosen the filter ends by using
the proper wrenches on both end nuts.
3. To remove the element (a) carefully
unscrew the INLET (f) end from the
center shaft. Remove the nut (b) and
slide the element off the shaft.
4. Replace the element or o-rings as
needed (Spectre PN 2358).
Re-Installation
1. If removed during assembly, install
correct size nipples onto the ends of the
fuel filter housing. Use teflon tape or
equivalent thread sealer. DO NOT
OVERTIGHTEN!
2. Lubricate nipples and slide fuel filter into
position in rubber hose ends. NOTE:
make certain that the filter OUT end is
toward the carburetor!
3. Position clamps over nipples and tighten
securely.
4. Start engine and CHECK for
LEAKS! Check fuel filter connections
again after engine has warmed up.
Place o-rings (d) into both inlet
and outlet ends. Replace the
housing (e) over the element
assembly and screw the INLET
(f) end onto the threaded center
shaft, sandwiching the housing
between the o-rings on either
end.
Carefully tighten the ends until
snug. Make sure that the
housing fits squarely between the
ends and that there is no binding
of the center shaft threads.
Install filter between fuel tank and carburetor,
in an accessible section of the fuel line.
Select a protected, cool area of the engine
compartment away from hot exhaust
components.
Rigid Metal Fuel Lines
1. Mark an area 3" longer than the filter to be
removed from the fuel line.
2. For best results, remove rigid fuel line from
the vehicle and cut the area to be
removed with a tubing cutter.
3. Remove burrs and metal particles from the
fuel line and reinstall on vehicle.
4. Add a short length of rubber fuel hose to
each end of the metal fuel line and slide
clamps into position on hose.

Use extreme care with
installation.
• Do not install fuel filter within
3" of an exhaust component
where extreme heat can
ignite fuel.
• Do not use on fuel injected
engines or on fuel systems
exceeding 10 PSI fuel
pressure.
Replace filter
every 5,000
miles or when
visibly dirty
5. If appropriate, install correct size
nipples (supplied) onto the end of the
fuel filter. Use teflon tape or
equivalent thread sealer. Do not
overtighten!
6. Lubricate nipples and slide fuel filter
into position on rubber hose ends.
NOTE: make certain the filter
"OUT" end is toward the
carburetor!
7. Position clamps over nipples and
tighten securely.
8. Start engine and CHECK FOR
LEAKS! Check filter again after
engine has warmed up.
Flexible Rubber Fuel Lines
1. Mark an area the length of the filter
body to be removed from the fuel
line.
2. For best results remove rubber fuel
line from the vehicle and cut with a
sharp knife.
3. Remove any debris from inside hose
and reinstall on vehicle.
4. Slide proper size clamps onto end of
cut fuel hose.
5. Follow the previous steps 5-8.

Montaje
Nota la sequencia correcta en el
diagrama. Cuadra el elemento (a)
sobre el centro del astil hasta que
descanse en el extremo del desagüe
(b). Instala la tuerca (c) al centro del
astil y apreta hasta que se acomoda
al elemento (a). El elemento debería
estar cómodo al extremo (c).

Desmontaje
1. Quite el montaje de filtro del vehículo.
2. Cuidadosamente afloja los extremos del
filtro usando las herramientas
apropiadas.
3. Para quitar el elemento (a)
cuidadosamente destornilla el extremo
INLET (f) del astil central. Quite la tuerca
(b) y resbala el elemento del astil.
4. Reemplaza el elemento o los anillos tipo
o si es necesario (Spectre pieza 2358).
Reinstalación
1. Si es removido durante el montaje,
instala los pezones correctos sobre los
extremos del encajamiento de filtro de
combustible. Usa cinta de teflón o un
sellante para roscados.

NO SOBRE
APRETES!
2. Lubrica los pezones y resbalalos en
posición a los extremos de la manguera.
NOTA: Asegurase que el extremo
“OUT” del filtro esta dirigido hacia el
carburador.
3. Posiciona las abrazaderas sobre los
pezones y apretalos con seguridad.
4. Arranca el motor y

REVISALO PARA
FUGAS! Revisa las conexiones del filtro
denuevo despues quel motor se a
calentado.
Cuadra los anillos tipo o (d) a los
dos extremos en la entrada y el
desagüe. Reemplaza el encajamiento
(e) sobre el montaje del elemento y
tornilla la entrada (f) al astil roscada
en el centro, encajonando entre los
anillos tipo o en cualquer extremo.
Cuidadosamente apreta los
extremos hasta que se acomoden.
Asegura quel encajamiento se
acomoda directamente entre los
extremos y que no se encuadra el
astil roscado central.

el extremo “OUT” del filtro esta

Línea de Combustible de Goma
Flexible
1. Marca un area al tamaño del filtro
para removerlo de la línea de
combustible.
2. Para mejor resultados quite la línea
de goma para combustible y cortalo
con un instrumento afilado.
3. Quite cualquer escombros dentro de
la manguera y reinstalalo en el
vehículo.
4. Resbala las abrazaderas correctas
sobre el extremo de la manguera
cortada.
5. Sigue los mismos pasos anterior
5-8.
Instala el filtro entre el tanque de combustible
y el carburador en un area accesible de la
línea de combustible. Seleciona un area
protegido y lejos de los componentes del
sistema de escape.
Línea Combustible de Metal Rigído
1. Marca un area 7,62 cm más largo quel filtro
para removerlo.
2. Para mejor resultado, quite la línea de
combustible rigída y corta el area para
remover con un cortador de tubos.
3. Quite imperfecciones y particulos de la
línea y reinstala en el vehículo.
4. Agrega una línea de manguera corta a
cada lado de la línea de combustible y
resbala las abrazaderas en posición sobre
la manguera.
