Section 5 - FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES
Do not use water jet as an extinguisher, as this will spread the fire.
Vapors may travel considerable distance to a source of ignition and flash back.
Firefighters must use standard protective equipment including flame retardant
coat, helmet with face shield, gloves, rubber boots, and in enclosed spaces,
SCBA.
Ventilate closed spaces before entering them. ELIMINATE all ignition sources
(no smoking, flares, sparks or flames in immediate area). Keep upwind. See
Section 8 of the SDS for Personal Protective Equipment. Do not touch
damaged containers or spilled materials unless wearing appropriate protective
clothing. Keep unauthorized personnel away.
Absorb spill with vermiculite or other inert material, then place in a container
for chemical waste.
ELIMINATE all ignition sources (no smoking, flares, sparks or flames in
immediate area). Stop leak if you can do so without risk. Prevent entry into
waterways, sewer, basements or confined areas. Stop the flow of material, if
this is without risk.
Avoid release to the environment. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to
do so. Do not contaminate water sources or sewer.
Do not handle until all safety precautions have been read and understood.
Obtain special instructions before use. Use personal protective equipment as
required. Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other
ignition sources. No smoking. Do not spray on an open flame or other ignition
source. Do not pierce or burn, even after use. Avoid contact with skin. Wash
hands thoroughly after handling.
