Safety warnings AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO PARENTS: This manual contains important information. For your child’s safety, it is your responsibility to review this information with your child and make sure that your child understands all warnings, cautions, instructions and safety topics. We recommends that you periodically review and reinforce the information in this manual with younger riders and that you are required to inspect and maintain your child’s scooter to insure their safety.
Always wear safety equipment such as helmet, knee pads and elbow pads. Always wear a helmet when riding your scooter and keep the chain strap securely buckled. Always wear shoes. Ride on smooth, paved surfaces away from motor vehicles. Avoid sharp bumps, drainage grates, and sudden surface changes. Scooter may suddenly stop. Avoid streets and surfaces with water, sand, gravel, dirt, leaves, and other debris. Wet weather impairs traction, braking, and visibility.
Always ensure child is wearing proper protective equipment such as an approved safety helmet. A helmet may be legally required by local law or regulation in your area. A child should always wear shoes, never ride bare footed or in sandals, and keep shoelaces tied and out of the way of the wheels. FAILURE TO USE COMMON SENSE AND HEED THE ABOVE WARNINGS FURTHER INCREASES RISK OF SERIOUS INJURY. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK AND WITH APPROPRIATE AND SERIOUS ATTENTION TO SAFE OPERATION. USE CAUTION.
Know your Space Scooter® Remove contents from box. Inspect the contents of the box for scratches in the paint and/or dents that may have occurred during shipping. Because your Space Scooter® was assembled and packed at the factory, there should not be any problems, even if the box has a few scars or dents. Kicking Riding Folding WARNING: DO NOT USE PARTS MANUFACTURE BY OTHER COMPANY WITH YOUR SPACE SCOOTER®. The Space Scooter®s have been built to certain design specifcations.
Setup and unfolding Tightening brake handle. Note: The screw of the brake handle was not tightened before the product was packed in the factory; the user should tighten the brake handle screw before using the scooter. Adjust brake handle to suitable position and lock it by inner hexagon spanner. Unfolding 1. Releassing folder by opening the quick release on right side of folder. 2.
4. Open the quick-release at top end of T-tube. 5. Insert and secure left and right handlebars by pressing the springloaded buttons and inserting them into T-tube. Make certain BOTH handlebars are properly locked into the T-bar by spring-loaded buttons. 6. Close quick-release to lock handlebar firmly. 7. To adjust the height of the handlebars: open the quick-release lever. 8. Press the spring-load button and slide T-bar to desired position, and make sure spring-load button is lock into the hole of tube. 9.
10. To unfolde deck, the front wheel has to be kept stop by foot or other things. 11. Hold steering tube by left hand, pull folding trigger by right hand. At the same time, pull steering tube forward slightly to make rear wheel leave away from ground. The deck will unfold slowly. Let deck grow up to right position and drop down the folding trigger. Deck will be lock at this position. If deck does not unfold normally, the user can pull front end of deck to help unfolding of deck.
Folding for Space Scooter® 1. Folding deck: (Let deck to be in a horizontal palce or turns up at front end.) Hold steering tube by left hand, pull folding trigger by another hand pull to open valve of air spring. At the same time, tread deck to push down deck to flat situation. 2. Adjust steering tube: To adjust steering tube to "kicking" mode, push "Riding" unlock button (B) to unlock head tube and raise steering tube up more until it securely locked into "kick scooter" position. Folding for storage 1.
3. Folding handlebar: Open quick-release on the top of T-tube, pull out handlebar from T-tube by pressing the spring-load button on handlebar. Fold down handlebar to folding position. 4. Folding head tube: Open quick-release on right side of folder. Push the "Riding" unlock button (B) to unlock head tube and press steering tube down until securely locked in the upright position. Then tightening the quick release at the right side of folder to lock the folder.
How to ride Riding As Kick Scooter Hold handlebar by two hands. Place one foot on deck, push forward with the other foot by kicking the ground. For enhanced cornering, lean slightly into the direction of the turn. For controlled stops, apply brake by grasping brake handle slightly to slow down the speed of scooter. Do not grasp brake handle suddenly. We recommend that you practice applying the brake at various speeds and in an open area free from obstructions before riding your scooter around others.
WARNING: Riding the scooter in an incorrect way may cause risk of falling down and damaging of the scooter. Do not step feet exceed the front end of deck. Do not step feet exceed the rear end of deck. Riding from steps is forbidden.
Check and adjust Check collar clamp Using a 5 mm Allen wrench, check that collar clamp bolt is tightened securely. This item is tightened and quality inspected at the factory, but there is a slight chance that the effects of shipping or handling may have caused this bolt to loosen. WARNING: Failure to properly secure the collar clamp may cause the steering tube to out of control while riding which may cause risk of injury or death.
Adjust brake cable Check brake before riding as the following steps: Grasp brake handle and push scooter forward. The rear wheel will not be turned, and scooter will not be moved forward. Opening brake handle, the scooter can be push and move forward easily. If brake is out of work, please adjust or maintain brake before riding. Tiny adjustment: adjust the screw of brake handle to loose or tighten brake cable. Wide adjustment: 1. Loosing brake cable nut. 2.
Maintenance Check flywheel and add ballbearingoil Checking flywheel before riding to make sure there is not any abnormal noise. If there is abnormal noise, turn up the scooter to let its bottom upward and add 3 to 5 points ballbearingoil to the gaps between flywheel and bearing, wait for a minute to let ballbearingoil infiltrate into the flywheel. The user should add ballbearingoil every month to keep it smooth and increase its life, even if there is not any abnormal noise.
Space Scooter® F.A.Q. (frequently asked questions) The Space Scooter® does not unfold. Be sure you have read the instruction manual carefully and understand how the Space Scooter® works. a) b) If you are sure you are doing everything right, ensure the brake at the rear wheel is not pressed against the wheel. If this is the case, you can use a wrench size 8 to unloosen the nut and give the cable/break some more space. When you’re done, fasten the nut again.
The Space Scooter® makes strange noises. The Space Scooter® needs its maintenance just like a bike. On www.spacescooter.eu you will find a maintenance manual. Here you will find a few practical tips. (a) A chain is handled with chain spray – this is a dry lubrication and ensures you that no dirt attracts to the chain; available at the better bike shop or hardware store. We recommend not to use WD40 or silicone spray. If the chain becomes rusty.
Warranty The manufacturer warranties this product to be free of manufacturing defects for a period of 24 months from date of purchase. This Limited Warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, or any damage, failure or loss caused by improper assembly, maintenance, or storage. This Limited Warranty will be void if the product is ever: Used in a manner other than for recreation. Modified in any way. Rented. Repair with parts other then the original Space Scooter® parts.
