Spa Choice Re-Energize
HAZARDOUS POLYMERIZATION: No
STABILITY: Stable when handled and stored as indicated.
CONDITIONS TO AVOID: Temperatures above 50° C (>122° F). Avoid extreme heat.
POSSIBILITY OF HAZARDOUS REACTIONS: Decomposes when heated or dampened, releasing oxygen and heat of
decomposition.
HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS: Oxygen, sulfur dioxide, sulfur trioxide products.
INCOMPATIBLE MATERIALS: Halogenated compounds (bromine, chlorine, iodine), cyanides, heavy metal salts.
11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION
ACUTE
INHALATION LC
50
: > 5 mg/L (4 hour)
Notes: In rats.
NOTES: Pentapotassium bis(peroxymonosulphate) bis(sulphate)
Dermal LD50: >2000 mg/kg (rat)
Oral LD50: 500 mg/kg (rat)
Repeated Dose Toxicity:
Inhalation (rat) - Reversible corneal damage
Oral (rat) - Gastrointestinal effects
Mutagenicity: Did not cause genetic damage in animals. Tests on mammalian cell cultures showed mutagenic effects. Did not
cause genetic damage in cultured bacterial cells. Overall weight of evidence indicates that the substance is not mutagenic.
Teratogenicity: Animal testing showed effects on embryo-fetal development at levels equal to or above those causing material
toxicity.
Dipotassium peroxodisulphate
Dermal LD50: >10,000 mg/kg (rabbit)
Oral LD50: 802 mg/kg (rat)
Mutagenicity: Tests on bacterial or mammalian cell cultures did not show mutagenic effects.
EYE EFFECTS: Severely irritating (rabbit).
SKIN EFFECTS: Causes skin burns (rabbit).
SENSITIZATION: Did not cause sensitization on laboratory animals. May cause sensitization of susceptible persons by skin
contact or by inhalation of dust.
