setting the clock
Using on a dry battery
See the illustrations in the Japanese
text (page 8).
Install an R6 (size AA) alkaline battery.
1 Slide the dry battery compartment
lid in the direction of the arrow
and open it.
2 Install the battery with the – side
first.
When the battery becomes weak
The i indication flashes in the display.
Replace the battery with a new one, or the
battery will go dead and the recorder will
not operate.
The alkaline battery’s life
You can record with a new alkaline
battery for about 6 hours, or play back for
about 4.5 hours.
Installing a lithium battery
See the illustrations in the Japanese
text (page 9).
To operate the built-in clock, install the
lithium battery (CR1220, supplied).
1 While sliding the release switch on
the rear panel of the recorder with
a pointed object, rotate the lid in
the direction of OPEN.
The lid is removed.
2 Install a lithium battery with the +
side facing up.
3 Replace the lid, and rotate it in the
direction of CLOSE until it clicks.
Lithium battery life
Replace the lithium battery with a new
one once about a year.
Notes on lithium battery
•Keep the lithium battery and the
recorder out of the reach of children.
Should the battery be swallowed,
immediately consult a doctor.
•Be sure to observe the correct polarity
when installing the battery.
•Do not hold the battery with metallic
tweezers, as a short-circuit may occur.
WARNING
Battery may explode if mistreated.
Do not recharge, disassemble or dispose
of in fire.
Setting the clock
See the illustrations in the Japanese
text (pages 10 to 11).
Set the clock before starting any
recording operations to stamp the date
and time.
1 While the recorder is not
operating, press CLOCK SET on
the rear panel of the recorder with
a pointed object for about one
second.
The digits of the year (Y) flash.
2 Press + or – to enter the current
year .
To change the digits rapidly, keep
pressing + or –.
3 Press MODE.
The year you set is stored in the
memory and the digit of the
month starts flashing.
4 Repeat steps 2 and 3 to set the
month (M), date (D), hour (H), and
minute (M).
The time is displayed in the 24-
hour system.
5 After setting the minute, press
MODE.
The clock starts operating, and the
current time (hour, minute, and
second) is displayed.
