About this Manual This manual provides instructions to help you enjoy your new TV. Basic Connections TV with Cable, Indoor, or Outdoor Antenna Connections Depending on the cable system available in your home, choose one of the connections below: Use option A to connect the TV to a cable system or an antenna with a 75-ohm cable (usually built into newer homes). ✍ Converter EAC-25 is commercially known as a 300-to-75 ohm antenna adapter. Use option B to connect the TV to a dipole antenna, also known as a “rabbit ears antenna” (usually found in older homes).

Connecting a TV, VCR, and Cable Box ✍ DIGITAL CABLE BOX USERS: If you are connecting a digital cable box, you will need a special bidirectional splitter (5-900 Mhz minimum) that is designed to work with your digital cable box. Use this connection if you subscribe to a cable system that scrambles some channels (pay channels), but not all of them.
Optional connection ❏ For better picture quality, use S VIDEO instead of the yellow video cable. S VIDEO does not provide sound, so you still must connect the audio cables. Using Basic Functions Setting Up the TV After you have finished connecting your TV, you can use Auto Program to set up your channels. During Auto Program, the TV will automatically search for available channels and program receivable channels. ✍ 1 When you start Auto Program wait until it is finished; otherwise it will skip over channels that are available. Perform Auto Program again to program receivable channels. Press to turn on the TV. The Initial Setup screen appears.

Using the Memory Stick Viewer About Memory Stick Memory Stick (sold separately) is a new, compact, portable, and versatile Integrated Circuit recording medium with a data capacity that exceeds that of a floppy disk. Memory Stick is specially designed for sharing digital data among Memory Stick compatible products such as digital cameras and digital video cameras. Because it is removable, Memory Stick can also be used for external data storage.
About Memory Stick PRO Media Memory Stick PRO media features vary by and are dependent upon the design of host hardware devices. Memory Stick PRO in this television has been tested to support up to 1 GB media capacity and does not support high-speed transfer, MagicGate copyright protection technology, or access control security features.
Inserting and Removing a Memory Stick ✍ The Memory Stick slot on your TV has been designed to accommodate standard and compact versions of Memory Stick. It is not necessary to use an adapter for Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick PRO Duo. If you use an adapter it may damage the adapter and Memory Stick slot. Inserting a Memory Stick Locate the Memory Stick slot and insert the Memory Stick into the Memory Stick slot as illustrated below.
Removing a Memory Stick To remove a Memory Stick 1 ✍ 2 ✍ 3 Memory Stick ✍ 28 Check that the Memory Stick indicator light is off. When the light is on, this indicates that the TV is reading data from the Memory Stick. Removing the Memory Stick while a file is being accessed (when the Memory Stick indicator light on the TV’s front panel is lit) may damage the Memory Stick or its contents. Push the Memory Stick gently into the slot, and then release it. The Memory Stick media is ejected.
Using the Memory Stick Index Turn on the TV and insert a Memory Stick that contains the photo files you want to view. For details, see page 27. ✍ If the Memory Stick Index does not appear, press the MEMORY STICK button on the remote control. The Memory Stick Index appears and displays thumbnail images of the files stored on the Memory Stick. Viewing Photos When you select a photo from the Memory Stick Index (described on page 29), it appears as shown below, with the following controls. This is a result of the way digital video cameras record still images, and is not a result of a TV malfunction.
Photo Menu Bar Options The Photo menu bar lets you access additional photo viewing options. To access the Photo menu bar 1 2 Use the G or g buttons to select Slide Show, View, or File. Use the arrow buttons (F, f, g, G) to select the desired option. Option Description Index Displays the Memory Stick Index, with the highlight on the thumbnail of the currently displayed photo. Contents Menu Options The Folder menu includes the following options: Option Description Select Folder Allows you to select different folders to view in the Memory Stick Viewer. File Order Digital Camera Folders Selects all folders within the directories defined by the DCF rules used by Sony digital cameras (see page 35). JPEG files in those directories are recognized even if they do not conform to the DCF file naming rules.
Notes on Using Memory Stick Media About DCF File Names Most Sony brand digital still and video cameras automatically record still photo and movie files using DCF-compliant directory and file names. If you selected the Digital Camera Folders option, as described on page 34, you might want to have your digital camera’s instruction manual handy in order to check how files and directories are organized for your specific model of digital camera.

To use the Parental Control Menu When you select the Parental Control menu, you are prompted to set a 4-digit password. You cannot access the Parental Control menu settings without this password.

If you are not familiar with Parental Guideline rating system, use one of the following preset categories to simplify the rating selection: Child, Youth, Young Adult.
Information for Parents To view a program that exceeds the TV rating ❏ ✍ Press , then use the 0 9 buttons to enter your password. Entering your password to view a blocked program will temporarily turn Lock to Off. To reactivate your Lock settings, turn the TV off then back on; the TV will return to the settings that you have selected. Using the Custom Menu Follow the instructions on the screen to make your custom settings. Select the country desired for your TV’s rating limit.
United States: Selecting Custom Rating Options For the United States, the Custom Rating menu includes the following options: Movie Rating, TV Rating, and Unrated. (For Canada, see page 48.) Movie Rating This system defines the rating levels of movies shown in theaters and on prime cable channels.
Unrated You have the option of blocking TV programs or movies that are not rated. Canada: Selecting Custom Rating Options For Canada, the Custom Rating menu includes the following options: English Rating, French Rating, and U.S.A. Rating. English Rating These ratings are for Canadian programs that are broadcast in English.

Use the timers to program your TV to turn on and off by day, time, duration, and channel. The timer duration is a maximum of six hours. While holding down the RESET button on the remote control, press the POWER button on the TV front panel. The TV will turn itself off, then back on again. Release the RESET button.

Problem Possible Remedies No picture, no sound ❏ ❏ ❏ Make sure the power cord is plugged in. If a red light flashes on the front of your TV for more than a few minutes, disconnect and reconnect the power cord. If the problem continues, call your local service center. Check the TV/VIDEO setting. When watching TV, set it to TV; when watching video equipment, set it to VIDEO 1, 2, 3 or 4 (page 4). Make sure you have inserted the batteries correctly into the remote control (page 2).
Other Information Memory Stick Problem Image does not display/Cannot see all files Possible Remedies ❏ Make sure the image file is a JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg) file. ❏ Make sure the Memory Stick is inserted properly (see page 27). ❏ Check the Select Contents setting (see page 34) and ensure that files are either in DCF directories if Digital Camera Folders is selected (see page 34), or in the currently selected folder if Select a Folder is selected (see page 34).

You can try one of the following remedies. •Select a single MP3 file that has a fixed bit rate of 128 kbps.
