BBefore You Begin What is the Memory Stick IC recorder? The Memory Stick IC recorder enables you to record and play back oral messages recorded on a “Memory Stick”. z Recording When a new message is recorded, it is automatically added after the last recorded messages. Unlike with tape recorders, you do not need to worry about recording over previously recorded messages by mistake. Since you do not need to search for the end of the last recording, you can start recording quickly whenever you wish.
What is “Memory Stick“ ? “Memory Stick“ is a new compact, portable and versatile IC recording medium with a data capacity that exceeds a floppy disk. “Memory Stick“ is specially designed for exchanging and sharing digital data among “Memory Stick“ compatible products. Because it is removable, “Memory Stick“ can also used for external data storage. One “Memory Stick“ can be used to save and use images recorded by another unit as well as the voice messages using this unit.
z On file format This unit compresses voice data in “Memory Stick“ voice format (MSV LPEC format: extension .msv). Voice data is saved in a VOICE folder in the “Memory Stick“ together with message list (MSF) files that control voice data information (for example, the order of voice messages). You can play back and edit voice messages recorded on a “Memory Stick“ on a computer using the supplied “Memory Stick Voice Editor 2“ software. See page 63 for details.
Features You can quickly search for the desired parts during playback using the cue or review function. Easy search function (page 24) You can quickly search for the point (10 seconds ahead or 3 seconds back) and start playback. Overwrite and additional recording function (page 31) You can overwrite after the desired point on a recorded message or add a new recording to a previously recorded message.
BGetting Started Step 1: Installing the Batteries 1 2 Slide and lift the battery compartment lid. Insert two LR03 (size AAA) alkaline batteries with correct polarity, and close the lid. If the battery compartment lid is accidentally detached, attach it as illustrated. Clock setting display appears when you insert batteries for the first time, or when you insert batteries after the unit has been without batteries for a certain period of time.
Replacing the batteries The battery indicator on the display window shows the battery condition. New batteries Weak batteries Batteries are exhausted. The unit will stop operation. Battery life* With continuous use, approx. 10 hours (SP)/12 hours (LP) of recording or approx. 12 hours (SP/LP) of playback is possible. * Using Sony alkaline batteries LR03 (SG) * When playing back through the internal speaker with VOL control at around 4 The battery life may shorten depending on the operation of the unit.
Step 2: Setting the Clock You need to set the clock to use the alarm function or record the date and time.
