full-frame CMOS sensor this refined. By faithfully capturing every detail at 24.3 effective
megapixel resolution (approx.), it lets you casually frame scenes for later trimming or create
stunning large-format prints. Every scene is faithfully captured with astonishingly rich
gradation, thanks to a dynamic range 2.4x wider** than conventional full-frame sensors
can provide. Noise has also been lowered to an infinitesimal level. And razor-sharp
alignment of the sensor with optical components — made possible by a unified lens-body
design — brings out the full potential of the lens to deliver unprecedented image quality to
the very edges of your photos.

from the high-resolution image sensor — throughout an extremely wide dynamic
range — to faithfully reproduce every feature of your scene from vivid colours to smooth
skin textures and faint light rays. Even the most processor-intensive tasks are handled with
amazing speed and precision, including 5 fps continuous shooting, ISO 14-bit RAW format
conversion, and high-sensitivity shooting up to 102400 (which composites multiple images
to reduce noise).

The bright Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* 35mm F2 lens delivers truly stunning image quality.
Carl Zeiss lens expertise meets Sony optical precision in a
sophisticated Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* lens, so-named because
its remarkable brightness is reminiscent of the sun (“Sonne”
in German). The new optical design of this large-diameter
lens includes an Advanced Aspherical (AA) lens element
that helped Sony achieve a phenomenally small lens body
and stunning image quality with supreme sharpness and
contrast. Moreover, the inner focus system minimises lens
protrusion. This is especially advantageous during macro
shooting, which provides a minimum focus distance of 20cm
(from the focal plane).
