Another important characteristic to know is if the subtitles sequences have gaps.
n A subtitle sequence with gaps means the out time of the first subtitle and the in time of the second
subtitle are different. In the sample .dost file above, there is a two-second gap between each
subtitle.
n A subtitle sequence with no gaps means the out time of the first subtitle and the in time of the
second subtitle are the same.
When Full screen images is set to Yes in the Control Panel, you will not be able to use subtitle sequences
with no gaps because DoStudio Authoring will automatically trim the subtitles with no gaps.
When using subtitle streams with no gaps we strongly recommend keeping the subtitles in the same area,
such as the lower third of the screen. Not following this recommendation might lead to a compliancy issue.
DoStudio Authoring software needs to find a common size for all subtitles. If the subtitles are placed all
over the screen, the common size will be very large and difficult to handle by Blu-ray Disc players.
For more information about recommended subtitle procedures, see "Recommended subtitle procedures" on
page 182.
