Recommended subtitle procedures
We recommend the following subtitle procedures based on the size of your subtitle images and whether
there are gaps in the subtitle sequence. For more information, see "Subtitle properties" on page 60.
Case 1: The subtitles are full-raster images and there are no sequences without
gaps
In this case we recommend using the Crop Subtitles tool and setting Full screen images to No. If cropping
is not done and Full screen images is set to Yes you will still be able to compile the project, but multiplexing
will require more time to prepare the subtitles.
Case 2: The subtitles are full-raster images and there are sequences without gaps
In this case we recommend using the Crop Subtitles tool and setting Full screen images to No.
DoStudio Authoring will crop the subtitles to a common size, which is required for gap-less sequences.
Case 3: The subtitles are cropped to their minimum size and there are no
sequences without gaps
In this case we recommend not using the Crop Subtitles tool and setting Full screen images to No.
Case 4: The subtitles are cropped to their minimum size and there are sequences
without gaps
Unfortunately, DoStudio Authoring will not be able to use these subtitles without gaps because the subtitles
are already cropped to their minimum size. You can set Full screen images to Yes, but that will eliminate
the gap-less sequences by trimming the duration of the events without gaps. We recommend in this case to
request the same subtitle stream but with full-raster images and follow the steps outlined in case 2.
Case 5: The subtitles are cropped to a common size and there are no sequences
without gaps
In this case we recommend not using the Crop Subtitles tool and setting Full screen images to No.
Case 6: The subtitles are cropped to a common size and there are sequences
without gaps
In this case we recommend not using the Crop Subtitles tool and setting Full screen images to No.
