Getting Started On the battery pack • Before changing the battery pack, slide the POWER switch to OFF (CHG).

Playback (Continued) Using PB zoom You can magnify the recorded picture from about 1.1 to 5 times the original size. Magnification can be adjusted with the power zoom lever or the zoom buttons on the LCD frame. Using the guide functions (USAGE GUIDE) You can easily select the desired setting screens by using the guide functions (USAGE GUIDE). 60min STBY GUIDE P-MENU Your camcorder has 3 guide functions as shown below. 1 Play back the picture you want to magnify.
Searching for the starting point Unavailable settings during Easy Handycam During Easy Handycam operation, some items are unavailable. If an attempted setting is not available, but still desired, touch [SET] to display an on-screen instruction. Follow the instruction to cancel Easy Handycam operation and then select the setting. Searching for the last scene of the most recent recording (END SEARCH) [END SEARCH] will not work once you eject the cassette after you have recorded on the tape.
Searching for the starting point (Continued) The last 2 seconds (approx.) of the most recently recorded scene are played back. Then, your camcorder is set to standby. Searching manually (EDIT SEARCH) You can search for the start point to start the next recording while viewing the pictures on the screen. The sound is not played back during the search. Make sure that the CAMERA-TAPE lamp lights up (p. 22).
3 Press mREW. The tape stops automatically when the tape counter reaches “0:00:00.” The tape counter returns to the time code display, and the zero set memory display disappears. 1 Press SEARCH M. on the Remote Commander. 2 Press .(previous)/>(next) to select a recording date. 60 min 0:00:00:00 30 min 4 Press PLAY. Playing the picture on a TV You can connect your camcorder to the input jack of a TV or a VCR using the A/V connecting cable (1) or the A/V connecting cable with S VIDEO (2). Connect your camcorder to the wall outlet using the supplied AC Adaptor for this operation (p. 12). Refer also to the instruction manuals supplied with the devices to be connected.
To set the aspect ratio according to the connected TV (16:9/4:3) Change the aspect ratio of the image according to the screen size of your TV. 1 Slide the POWER switch repeatedly to turn on the PLAY/EDIT lamp. 2 Touch t [MENU] t (STANDARD SET) t [TV TYPE] t [16:9] or [4:3] t . b Notes Recording/Playback • When you set [TV TYPE] to [4:3], or when the picture’s aspect ratio switches between 16:9 and 4:3, the image may jitter.

This setting also prevents your camcorder from focusing on glass or metal mesh in windows between the camcorder and the subject.

CAMERA SET menu (Continued) TELE MACRO This is useful to shoot small subjects, such as flowers or insects. You can blur out backgrounds and the subject stands out clearer. When you set [TELE MACRO] to [ON] ( ), the zoom (p. 24) moves to the top of the T (Telephoto) side automatically and allows for recording subjects at a close distance, down to about 38 cm (15 in.). • The shutter speed of your camcorder changes depending on the brightness. The motion of the picture may slow down in this case.
SELF-TIMER When you set [SELF-TIMER] to [ON] ( ), the self-timer starts recording in about 10 seconds after pressing PHOTO to record still images. To cancel the count down, touch [RESET]. To cancel [SELF-TIMER], touch [OFF]. STEADYSHOT You can compensate for camera shake (the default setting is [ON]). Set [STEADYSHOT] to [OFF] ( ) when using a tripod (optional) or the conversion lens (optional), then the image becomes natural.

You can connect your camcorder to VCRs or DVD/HDD recorders, using the A/V connecting cable (1), the A/V connecting cable with S VIDEO (2), or the i.LINK cable (3). Connect your camcorder to the wall outlet using the supplied AC Adaptor for this operation (p. 12). Refer also to the instruction manuals supplied with the devices to be connected.

Be sure to insert a cassette or a “Memory Stick Duo” for recording in your camcorder beforehand. You can connect your camcorder to a TV, VCR etc. or an i.LINK-compatible device using the i.LINK cable (optional).

For example, when you open or close the LCD panel, it takes about 1 minute to display the correct remaining battery time.
