Recording/playback/editing
Symptom Cause and/or Corrective Actions
• The battery pack is not installed, or is dead or nearly dead.
c Install a charged battery pack (p. 10).
• The AC power cord is not connected to a wall outlet.
c Connect the AC adaptor/charger to a wall outlet (p. 15).
• The mode change switch of the AC adaptor/charger is set
to CHARGE.
c Set it to VTR/CAMERA (p. 15).
• The LCD screen is open.
c Close the LCD screen.
• The operating temperature is too low.
• The battery pack is not fully charged.
c Charge the battery pack fully (p. 10).
• The battery pack is completely dead, and cannot be
recharged.
c Replace with a new battery pack.
• The camcorder is writing on the disc.
c Wait for a while.
• The AC power cord was disconnected or the battery pack
was completely discharged during recording or editing.
c Connect the AC power cord (p. 15), or install the
charged battery pack (p. 10).
• The camcorder is writing on the disc.
c Wait until STBY flashing on the screen goes off.
• The AC adaptor/charger is not connected to a wall outlet.
c Connect the AC adaptor/charger to a wall outlet (p. 15).
• You are using the battery pack in an extremely hot or cold
environment for a long time.
• The battery pack is completely dead, and cannot be
recharged.
c Replace with a new battery pack.
• The battery is dead.
c Use a fully charged battery pack (p. 10).
• The write protect tab of the disc is open.
c Close the write protect tab (p. 17).
• The track is protected.
c Release the protection (p. 61).
• The disc is for playback only.
c Use the MD DATA2 disc.
• The AC adaptor/charger was disconnected or electricity
was cut during recording or editing.
c Recording or editing up to the power failure is canceled.
Do it again from the beginning.

Troubleshooting
The battery remaining indicator
does not indicate the correct time.
The disc lid does not open.
The picture does not appear in the
viewfinder.
The battery pack is quickly
discharged.
Recording does not start again.
The camcorder does not operate
when the POWER switch is set to
CAMERA, PLAY/EDIT, or
INTERVIEW.
Recording or editing is not
possible.
