Troubleshooting
Picture appears too bright, and the
subject does not appear on the
LCD screen or in the viewfinder.
The video control buttons do not
operate.
The playback picture is not clear.
No sound or only a low sound is
heard when playing back a tape.
The beep or click of the shutter
does not sound.
The track cannot be erased.
The picture on the LCD screen or
in the viewfinder turns off.
It takes time for the picture to
appear on the LCD screen or in the
viewfinder when the POWER
switch is set to CAMERA.
No picture appears on the TV
when you connected the
camcorder to TV or VCR.
Normal playback cannot be done.
Playback does not start from the
first track in the audio MD.
Dropout of picture and sound
occurs.
Symptom Cause and/or Corrective Actions
• EXPOSURE is set to manual adjustment mode.
c Set it back to automatic adjustment (p. 44).
• BACKLIGHT adjustment function is working.
c Deactivate the function (p. 40).
• BEEP is set to OFF .
c Set it to ON (p. 93).
• The picture turns off when you insert or eject the disc. This
is not a malfunction.
• It happens occasionally. This is not a malfunction.
Playback
Symptom Cause and/or Corrective Actions
• The POWER switch is not set to PLAY/EDIT.
c Set it to PLAY/EDIT (p. 30).
• The battery pack is dead or nearly dead.
c Install a charged battery pack (p. 10).
• The camcorder is placed close to equipment generating a
strong magnetic field such as television.
c Move the camcorder away from the equipment.
• The volume is turned to minimum.
c Turn up the volume (p. 33).
• AVLS is set to ON.
c Set to OFF (p. 94).
• The track is protected.
c Release the protection (p. 61).
• The write protect tab of the disc is open.
c Check the write protect tab (p. 17).
• Disconnect the AV connecting cable once and connect it
again.
•Repeat play is selected.
c Set PLAY MODE to NORMAL (p. 52).
• Playback was stopped on the way the last time.
c Select the first track.
c Press . repeatedly until it returns to the first track.
c Open the disc lid. The playback starts from the first
track.
• The camcorder is used under mechanical vibration.
c Avoid using the camcorder under mechanical vibration.
• If the track is extremely short, picture and sound may
dropout.
