Warning indicators and messages
If indicators and messages appear in the viewfinder or the display window, check the following:

Warning indicators
The video heads are dirty
Slow flashing:
• You need to clean the heads using the Sony V8-25CLD
cleaning cassette (not supplied) (p. 76).
Self-diagnosis display (p. 67)
Moisture condensation has
occurred*
Fast flashing:
• Eject the cassette, turn off your
camcorder, and leave it for
about 1 hour with the cassette
compartment open (p. 75).
You need to eject the cassette
Slow flashing:
• The write-protect tab on the
cassette is out (red) (p. 18).*
Fast flashing:
• Moisture condensation has
occurred (p. 75).
• The tape has run out
(p. 18, 29).*
• The self-diagnosis display
function is activated (p. 67).*
Warning messages
• CLOCK SET Reset the date and time (p. 58).
• For “InfoLITHIUM” Use an “InfoLITHIUM” battery pack (p. 16).
BATTERY ONLY
• CLEANING CASSETTE The video heads are dirty (p. 76).
• START/STOP KEY Press the START/STOP button to activate the ORC setting. This
message is displayed in white (p. 52).
• O RC The ORC setting is working. This message is displayed in white
(p. 52).
* You hear the melody or beep sound.

The battery is dead or nearly dead
Slow flashing:
• The battery is nearly dead.
Fast flashing:
• The battery is dead (p. 13).
•The battery is completely dead, and
cannot be recharged.
Depending on conditions, the E
indicator may flash, even if there are
5 to 10 minutes remaining.
Warning indicator as to tape
Slow flashing:
• The tape is near the end.
• No tape is inserted (p. 18).*
• The write-protect tab on the
cassette is out (red) (p. 18).*
Fast flashing:
• The tape has run out (p. 18, 29).*
The lithium battery is weak
or is not installed (p. 62)
