Extending the Monitor Function with the Optional License (BVM-E171 only)

If an HDMI EDID error occurs, disconnect the
HDMI cable from the monitor, and then turn off
and on the power of the monitor.
For details of the error/warning display on the
indicators, see page 10.
After completion of upgrade, the system is
restarted. The network between the monitor and
controller is reconnected, and you can operate the
controller.
When the upgrade sequence does not move
forward correctly, the error message [Err] is
displayed in the display window. If this error
message is displayed, contact your Sony
representative.

Exit the [Controller Upgrade] menu, select the
[Controller Upgrade] menu again, and confirm that
the version of the selected item has been upgraded.
Extending the Monitor
Function with the
Optional License (BVM-
E171 only)
With the paid optional license “BVML-HE171,” you can
make this monitor HDR compatible.
Items to prepare
BVM-E171 (software version 1.1 or later)
Controller (BKM-17R), connecting cable
USB memory stick
Purchasing an optional license
You can purchase an optional license and obtain the
Installation Key file by following the steps below.

Select the [License Management] menu in the
[System Configuration] menu and check the
Unique Device ID under [Unique Device ID].
The 12-digit string in the [Unique Device ID] field
is the Unique Device ID.

Go to the Upgrade and License Management Suite
(ULMS) page below, enter your Purchase Key and
Device Unique ID, and download the Installation
Key of the optional license.

Activating an optional license
Notes
The unit automatically restarts after the Installation
Key file enables the HDR function. Depending on the
selected color profile, the content may change after
restarting the unit.
For details on the color profile, see [Color Profile]
(page 41).
When enabling the HDR function, disconnect the
HDMI cable from the monitor.
When activating the optional license, connect the
monitor to the controller on a PEER TO PEER
connection or single connection.
