1 Start by positioning the speakers according to the labels on the rear panel.
Next, connect the speakers to the main unit and surround amplifier. For BDV-N890W, refer to the supplied “Speaker Installation Guide” for assembling the speakers.
1 06 Insert the wireless transceivers into the main unit and surround amplifier for a cable-free connection.
2 To enjoy high-quality video and audio, connect via a High Speed HDMI cable (not supplied). If your TV has no HDMI ARC jack, you also need a digital optical cord (not supplied) to enjoy TV sound through the system speakers.
3 To connect your set-top box, game console, or digital satellite receiver, simply connect with an HDMI cable . For FM radio, connect the supplied wire antenna (aerial) and extend it for the best reception. You can also connect your iPod or iPhone to the system and your TV via the supplied dock.
You can connect to the Internet and home network via a wireless LAN or LAN cable (not supplied). Network settings can be found in the home menu (page 14). For further details, visit: http://support.sony-europe.
3 10 Connect the AC power cords (mains leads) of the main unit and surround amplifier to a wall outlet (mains).
4 Connect the calibration mic and place where you would normally sit. This will be used to optimize the speakers in the next section to give you the best possible surround sound experience. The mic can be fully removed once this process is complete.
4 Press / to turn the system on. “SETUP” appears in the front panel display. To ready the system for use, go through the on-screen Easy Initial Settings using the supplied remote. This should only take a few minutes. If the setup screen is not displayed, select the correct AV input in your TV. / ///, 12 Once [Easy Initial Settings are complete.] appears on the screen, select [Finish] and the system is ready to use.
5 To play a disc, simply insert one into the disc slot with the labeled side facing the front. To eject it, press . The LINK/STANDBY indicator on the surround amplifier turns green. If playback does not start automatically, select in the [Video], [Music], or [Photo] category, and press .
To access more features, simply press HOME. Examples: Listen to the radio through the system’s speakers Preset radio stations Access Internet content Play your iPod or iPhone through the system’s speakers You can make network settings via this menu when the main unit is connected to a broadband router.
Presetting radio stations BDV-N890W 1 Press FUNCTION repeatedly FUNCTION until “FM” appears in the front panel display. ///, 2 Press and hold TUNING +/– until auto scanning starts. OPTIONS 3 Press OPTIONS. 4 Press / to select [Preset HOME Memory], then press . PRESET +/– 5 Press / to select the preset number you want, then press . TUNING +/– 6 Repeat Steps 2 to 5 to store other stations.
Troubleshooting If you experience any of the following difficulties while using the system, use this troubleshooting guide to help remedy the problem before requesting repairs. Also consult the Operating Instructions on the following website: http://support.sony-europe.com/ The power does not turn on. Check that the AC power cord (mains lead) is securely connected to the wall outlet (mains). The system does not work normally.
Reducing power usage to less than 0.3 W in Standby Mode Press HOME, and then press /// to select [Setup] in [System Settings]. Check that the following settings are made: ˎˎ [Control for HDMI] in [HDMI Settings] is set to [Off ]. ˎˎ [Quick Start Mode] is set to [Off ].
