Disc type/usage Description
High-definition image quality
(HD)
A Blu-ray Disc enables you to record high definition
image quality (HD) movies of a longer duration than
DVD discs.
High-definition image quality
(HD) (AVCHD recording disc)
High definition image quality (HD) movie can be
recorded on DVD media, such as DVD-R discs, and a
high definition image quality (HD) disc is created.
• You can play a high definition image quality (HD) disc
on AVCHD format playback devices, such as a Sony
Blu-ray Disc player and a PlayStation®3. You cannot
play the disc on ordinary DVD players.
Standard definition image quality
(STD)
Standard definition image quality (STD) movie converted
from high definition image quality (HD) movie can be
recorded on DVD media, such as DVD-R discs, and a
standard image quality (STD) disc is created.
z Discs you can use with “PlayMemories Home”
You can use 12 cm discs of following type with “PlayMemories Home.” For Blu-ray Disc,
see page 169.
• Always maintain your PlayStation®3 to use the latest version of the PlayStation®3 system software.
• The PlayStation®3 may not be available in some countries/regions.
