The FM 75 Ω COAXIAL jack varies according to models. Keep the antennas away from the speaker cords, the power cord and the USB cable to avoid picking up noise.
C D-LIGHT SYNC OUT jack E FRONT SPEAKER terminals Connect the D-LIGHT SYNC controller. You need to connect the D-LIGHT SYNC controller to a lighting device* (not supplied). The lighting device will react according to the control signals transmitted by the D-LIGHT SYNC controller upon receiving music source from the system. For details on the use of the D-LIGHT SYNC controller and lighting device, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the respective device.
Using the iPod Slide and remove the battery compartment lid, and insert the two supplied R6 (size AA) batteries, E side first, matching the polarities shown below. e E e E Getting Started Insert the iPod Dock Adapter into the iPod 1 or 2 connector before use. For details on the supplied iPod Dock Adapters, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the iPod Dock Adapter.
When carrying the unit Do the following procedure to protect the disc mechanism. Use the buttons on the unit for the operation. 1 Press "/1 to turn on the system. 2 Press CD. 3 Press A to open the disc tray and remove the disc. 4 Press A again to close the disc tray. Wait until “No Disc” appears in the display. Positioning the speakers You can place your speakers as shown below.
Setting the clock Use buttons on the remote for the operation. The hour indication flashes in the display. If “PLAY SET?” flashes in the display, press V or v repeatedly to select “CLOCK SET?”, then press Getting Started 1 Press "/1 to turn on the system. 2 Press TIMER MENU. . 3 Press V or v repeatedly to set the hour. 4 Press . The minute indication flashes in the display. 5 Press V or v repeatedly to set the minute. 6 Press . The clock starts functioning.
Basic Operations To Do this Select a track or file Press l or L on CHANNEL B (or . or > on the remote) repeatedly. For AUDIO CD, you can also turn JOG DIAL on CHANNEL B, then press ENTER on CHANNEL B. (TRACK SEARCH) Playing a CD/MP3 disc 1 Press CD (or FUNCTION +/– on the remote repeatedly to select “CD”). 2 Press A. 3 Load a disc with the label side facing up on the disc tray. When you play back an 8 cm disc such as a CD single, place it on the inner circle of the tray.
1) The elapsed playing time may not be displayed correctly depending on the MP3 files. 2) When “ ” or “ SHUF” is selected for MP3 files. 3) Playback repeatedly up to five times. 4) A track or file is played back repeatedly until you stop playback. Press PLAY MODE on the remote repeatedly when playback is stopped. You can select the following play mode.
Listening to the radio Use buttons on the remote for the operation. 1 Press FUNCTION +/– repeatedly to select FM or AM band. 2 Press TUNING MODE repeatedly until “AUTO” lights up in the display. 3 Press +/–. You can also use TUNE +/– on the unit. Scanning stops automatically when a station is tuned in and “TUNED” lights up in the display. When a FM stereo program is tuned in, “STEREO” lights up in the display.
Use buttons on the unit for the operation. Transferring onto an USB device There are three ways to transfer onto an USB device. CD-USB Synchronized Transfer: You can easily transfer an entire disc onto an USB device. REC1 Transferring: You can easily transfer a single track or file from a disc that is currently being played back onto an USB device. Manual Transferring: You can transfer just the portion you want from a sound source (except CD).
3 Start transferring. For CD-USB Synchronized Transfer: Press REC TO USB. “SYNC” and “REC” light up in the display. Then, transferring starts when “Don’t Remove USB” appears in the display. When the transferring is completed, the disc and the USB device stop automatically. For REC1 Transferring: Press REC TO USB. “REC” lights up in the display. Then, transferring starts when “Don’t Remove USB” appears in the display. When the transferring is completed, the disc continues to play.
To remove the USB device Folder and file generation rules 1 Press USB (or FUNCTION +/– on When transferring to an USB device for the first time, a “MUSIC” folder is created directly below the “ROOT”. Notes • Do not remove the USB device during transferring or erase operations. Doing so may corrupt the data on the USB device or damage the USB device itself. • Do not connect the system and the USB device through an USB hub. • You cannot eject the disc during transferring from disc to USB. • When transferring from an MP3 disc, MP3 files are transferred with the same bit rate as the original MP3 files. When transferring from other sound source, the tracks are transferred as 128 kbps MP3 files.
4 Turn VOLUME +/– (or press VOLUME +/– on the remote) to adjust the volume. To change the play mode Press PLAY MODE on the remote repeatedly when playback is stopped. You can select the following play mode. – Normal Play (all files on the USB device) (“ ”, “SHUF” and “PGM” light off) – Normal/Folder Play (all files in the folder on the USB device) (“ ” lights up) – Shuffle Play (“SHUF” or “ SHUF” lights up) – Program Play (“PGM” lights up) (page 34) Notes on USB device • The following situations can increase the time it takes to start playback: – the folder structure is complex.
Playing the iPod You can listen to audio contents stored in the iPod on this system. 1 Press iPod 1 or iPod 2. Using the remote: 2 Place the iPod(s). Basic Operations Press and hold CHANNEL A, then press FUNCTION +/– repeatedly to select “iPod 1”. Press FUNCTION +/– repeatedly to select “iPod 2”. • When placing or removing the iPod, brace the unit with one hand and take care not to press the controls of the iPod by mistake. • Before disconnecting the iPod, pause playback.
To Do this Fast forward or Hold down l or L fast rewind Play (or m or M on the remote) during playback, then release it at the point you want. Work much like Press MENU/RETURN the Menu button (or B or TOOL MENU or on the iPod O RETURN on the remote). You can return to the previous menu or select a menu much like the Menu button on the iPod or the touch operation of the iPod touch. Set iPod to Shuffle Songs Press PLAY MODE on the remote repeatedly.
Adjusting the sound To add a sound effect Do this Reinforce the bass and create a more powerful sound Press GROOVE repeatedly until “GROOVE”* or “Z-GROOVE”* lights up in the display. Set the surround Press SURROUND effect repeatedly until “SURROUND” lights up in the display. * The volume switches to power mode and the equalizer curve changes. You can adjust the subwoofer level to output the low frequency sound. 1 Press OPTIONS. 2 Turn JOG DIAL to select “SUBWOOFER LEVEL”, then press ENTER.
Creating a party atmosphere — Inspiring the DJ’s mood Using the drum pads — BEAT BLEND With the drum pads, you can add percussion during playback. This effect can be used with any source. To Do this Add the drum sound Press PAD I or PAD II to produce the respective sound. Change the drum sound Hold down PAD I or PAD II, then turn JOG DIAL to select the sound you want. The name of the drum sound appears in the display. The sound you select will be stored in PAD I or PAD II.
To return the beat speed to default setting (BPM 120) Press MENU/RETURN on CHANNEL A and BEAT SPEED simultaneously. Notes Tips • You can use the drum pads and the beat function at the same time. • You can transfer the sound of the drum pad or beat pattern onto a USB device using Manual Transferring only. Using the Crossfader You can isolate the sound from CHANNEL A and B or blend them together using the Crossfader.

4 Select a track or file to program. Other Operations Creating your own program — Program Play You can make a program of up to 25 steps in the order you want them to be played back. You can synchro transfer the programmed tracks or files onto an USB device (page 21). To program a track: Press l or L on CHANNEL B (or . or > on the remote) repeatedly until the track number you want appears in the display.
6 Repeat steps 3 to 5 to program additional folders, tracks or files. 7 Press HS on CHANNEL B (or N on the remote). Program Play starts. Other operations Do this Cancel Program Play When playback is stopped, press PLAY MODE on the remote repeatedly until “PGM” disappear from the display. Delete the last step Press CLEAR on the from the program remote when playback is list stopped. You can preset your favourite radio stations and tune them in instantly by selecting the corresponding preset number.
5 Repeat steps 1 to 4 to store other stations. You can preset up to 20 FM and 10 AM stations. 6 To call up a preset radio station, press TUNING MODE repeatedly until “PRESET” lights up in the display. Then, press +/– repeatedly to select the preset number you want. To cancel presetting Press TUNER MEMORY.
Ajusting the sound effect You can adjust the sound by raising or lowering the level of specific frequency band. Singing along You can sing along with any audio source that play back on this system. 1 Turn MIC LEVEL to MIN to reduce the microphone volume. Turn LOW jog to adjust the level of low frequency band. 2 Connect an optional microphone Turn MID jog to adjust the level of medium frequency band. 3 Start playing the music and Turn HIGH jog to adjust the level of high frequency band.
Play Timer: Using the timer The system offers three timer functions. Sleep Timer You can wake up to music from disc, iPod 2, tuner or optional USB device at a preset time. You can only set the Play Timer for audio source on CHANNEL B only. Recording Timer: You can set the system to turn off after a certain time, so that you can fall asleep to music. You can transfer onto a transferable USB device from a preset station at a specified time. Press SLEEP on the remote repeatedly.
6 Select the sound source or prepare the USB device. Then, slide CROSS FADER slider to B. For Play Timer: Press V/v or ./> repeatedly until the music source you want appears in the display, then press . The display will show the timer settings. For Recording Timer: 7 Press "/1 to turn off the system. The system turns on a few seconds before the preset time.* If the system is on at the preset time, the Play Timer and the Recording Timer will not play or transfer.
Additional Information Troubleshooting Should you encounter a problem with your system, do the following: 1 Make sure the power cord and speaker cords are connected correctly and firmly. 2 Find your problem in the troubleshooting checklist below and take the indicated corrective action. If the problem persists after doing all of the above, consult your nearest Sony dealer. Note that if service personnel changes some parts during repair, these parts may be retained.
There is no sound. • Turn VOLUME +/– clockwise (or press VOLUME + repeatedly on the remote). • Check the CROSS FADER slider position (page 31). • Check the speaker connections (page 13). • There is no audio output during Recording Timer. There is no microphone sound. • Turn i LEVEL clockwise to adjust the headphone volume. • Check the headphone connection. • Check that the audio source on the selected channel is played back. There is beat sound even though you have not played back any source.
Disc player The disc tray does not open and “LOCKED” appears in the display. • Consult your nearest Sony dealer or local authorized Sony service facility. The disc tray does not close. • Load the disc correctly. • Always close the disc tray by pressing A. Do not forcibly push the disc tray to close it as this may cause a malfunction. The disc does not eject. • You cannot eject the disc during CD-USB Synchronized Transfer, or REC1 Transferring.
• ID3 tag information for MP3 audio files is displayed when the files have ID3 version 1 or ID3 version 2. If there are ID3 version 1 and version 2 tags, ID3 version 2 tag information has priority. USB device You cannot start transferring to an USB device. Transferring is stopped before it is finished. • You are using an unsupported USB device. See “Compatible devices with this system” (page 52) for the supported device types. • The USB device is not formatted correctly.
“Over Current” appears in the display. • A problem has been detected with the level of electrical current from the (USB) port. Turn off the system and remove the USB device from the (USB) port. Make sure there is no problem with the USB device. If this display pattern persists, contact your nearest Sony dealer. “No Medium” appears in display. • Check the memory device on the Sony Ericsson mobile phone. There is no sound. • The USB device is not connected correctly.
Playback does not start. • Turn off the system, then connect the USB device again. • Connect the supported USB device (page 52). • Press HS (or N on the remote) to start playback. Playback does not start from the first track. • Set the play mode to Normal Play (page 26). The audio files cannot be played back. * This system supports FAT16 and FAT32, but some USB device may not support all of these FAT. For details, see the operating instructions of each USB device or contact the manufacturer.
A stereo FM program cannot be received in stereo. • Press FM MODE on the remote repeatedly until “MONO” disappears from the display. Optional components Messages One of the following messages may appear or flash in the display during operation. Disc/ Timer There is no sound. • Refer to General item “There is no sound.” (page 41) and check the condition of the system. • Connect the component properly (page 13) while checking: – if the cords are connected properly.
USB device Not in Use USB Reading You tried to perform a specific operation under conditions where that operation is prohibited. The system is reading information of the USB device. Some buttons are not available. Data Error You tried to play back a audio file that is not playable (page 45). Device Error The USB device could not be recognized or an unknown device is connected. Fatal Error! NO STEP All of the programmed files have been erased. Not Supported An over current was detected.
