12 Entering characters
To format the memory card
From standby, select Menu }

and enter your phone lock code. For

Languages
Select the language to use in the
phone menus or when writing text.
To change the phone language
• From standby, select Menu }
Settings
} General } Language } Phone
language, select a language.
• From standby, press 0000 for
English, 0008 for Chinese, or
8888 for Automatic language.
To select writing languages
1 From standby, select Menu }
Settings
} General } Language
} Writing language.
2 } Mark to select languages } Save.
Entering characters
You can enter characters by
handwriting recognition or by using
the keypad.
Handwriting recognition
Scroll to a function where text input is
possible. For example, from standby,
select Menu
} Messaging } Write
new } Text message.You can enter
Chinese and English characters,
numbers and punctuation marks.
Use the stylus to write.
Writing languages
Before entering text using handwriting
recognition, make sure you have
selected the correct writing language.
For example, to enter Numeric
numbers, you should select Numeric
as the writing language.
To switch writing languages
Tap the language icon to switch
writing languages. For example, if the
current writing language is Numeric,
tap to change the writing language.
