52 Messaging
To change your own status
1. Scroll to My friends, Myself.
2. Press
Change and the following options appear:
• Picture – Select a picture from My pictures.
• About me – Write a short text about yourself.
• Availability – State whether you are online.
• Mood – Select a mood from the list.
• Username: – Your username.
To send a message from My friends
1. Scroll to My friends.
2. Scroll to a Contact,
More.
3. Select Send instant msg.
4. Write a message,
Send.
Tip: When you highlight a contact in the list, press
to send an instant message.
Contact list
You can create nicknames for the contacts in your
list.
To enter a nickname
1. Scroll to My friends, and select a contact.
2. Press
More, Manage contact, Edit nickname.
3. Enter your nickname (maximum of 11 characters),
Save.
Chatroom
You can join a chatroom discussion to exchange
information such as opinions, comments and
thoughts. A chatroom can be created either by your
service provider or by an individual My friends user.
To join a chatroom
1. Scroll to My friends.
2. Select a chatroom,
Join chat.
Receiving a message
When you receive a new message, the phone beeps
or an icon is shown in the status bar.
Area information
Area information is a type of text message
(for example, a local traffic report) that is sent to all
subscribers in a certain network area. When you
