Switching On
Press and hold the Power ON/OFF key located in the top
corner in the left hand side for 2 seconds to Power ON
the phone.
When the phone is switched on, it tries to register with
the network. After successful registration, the name of
the service provider is displayed.
Ensure that a valid SIM card is inserted in your
phone.
Setting Up Your Phone
For instructions on using your phone’s buttons, charger,
battery, and other hardware features, check the printed
Quick Start Guide provided along with your phone.
When you power ON the phone for the rst time,
Welcome screen is displayed.
To choose the language, touch the Menu.
To set up your phone, touch Start and follow the
instructions.
Make sure not to skip setting up your Google
account or certain applications will not update
properly.
Enhanced Push-To-Talk (EPTT) Application Update
Once set up is complete,
1. Push the EPTT button (“EPTT” on page 18) to
update the application from the Google Play Store.
2. Select Update > Accept permissions > Press OK.
Once downloading is completed, press the EPTT button
again to load the application. For further instructions,
“Launching EPTT Application” on page 55.
Setting up Google Touch Keyboard
A series of screens takes you through the setup process.
Your XP6 default input method is set to T9. Refer to “T9
Text Input Method” on page 25.
Once you have completed the set up process and have
already updated your EPTT application, if you wish to
turn OFF T9 and use the Google touch keyboard, go to
Settings > Language & Input > scroll down and tap
Default > slide Hardware Physical Keyboard to the
OFF position > check the Google Keyboard option > tap
Default again > check English (US) Google Keyboard
> uncheck T9 Text Input > tap Back or Home Key (to
return to main settings or home screen).
The Settings menu will display a light gray check next
to Google Keyboard. Please note that if you use the
numeric keyboard to input while having the Google
keyboard enabled, special characters, such as *, # and
space bar can only be found by pressing the 1 key
multiple times until you nd the special character. Or use
the touch screen for input of special characters.
If you already have Gmail account, use your Gmail
address and password or else, create a Gmail account.
If you want to, you can skip some of the setup steps such
as mobile network conguration and Wi-Fi conguration
during this setup process. Refer to the user guide to
congure later.
