Using the Layout Editor 255
To premaster to DVD-R, DLT, or Exabyte tape:
1 In the Step 3 section of the Layout Editor, select the Premastering option.
2 Select from the Target Device the DVD-R, DLT, or Exabyte drive to which you will write
the project.
3 If outputting to a DVD-R and you want to verify the output before writing to disc, select
the Simulate Write option. When you are ready to write the DVD-R, deselect this option.
4 If outputting to a tape device, select a Premastering Mode:
Dump Outputs the disc image to the target tape device.
Dump+Compare Outputs the disc image to the target tape drive and compares the tape
data with the source disc image and reports any errors. Although this option takes twice
as long as the Dump option, it ensures that the tape data will be valid and ready for
replication.
Compare Verifies that the disc image data and previously output data match.
5 If using a DLT or Exabyte tape drive, set the Tape Format to either DDP 2.0 or MID.
Check with your disc replication facility to see which tape format is required.
