142 Chapter 9, Creating Menu Tracks
Auto Action
Normally, when navigating to a menu button with the remote control, the button becomes
selected and the viewer must then press ENTER on the remote control to activate the
button’s function. You can provide easier navigation for the viewer by setting some buttons
to Auto Action, which allows the buttons to automatically perform their function when
selected.
Deciding whether to use Auto Action for a button depends on its context, its relation to
other buttons on the page, and its command. A good example for using Auto Action would
be arrow buttons that direct play from one menu to another.
To enable Auto Action for a button:
1 In the Track Editor directory area, select the menu track that contains the button for
which you will enable Auto Action.
2 If the Simulation window is not open, select View > Simulation Window.
3 In the Simulation window, click the Subpicture and Highlight tab, then scroll to the
Buttons page with the Left-Right arrows.
4 Click the button number for which you will enable Auto Action.
5 Select the Auto Action option.
