Finishing the Project 87
Finishing the Project
The last step before you create the DVD is to specify the disc type, size and name.
You do this using the Project Settings dialog.
The Project Settings dialog also lets you choose the encoding quality and/or add a
DVD-ROM section to the disc:
If a project contains AVI or QuickTime files, DVDit! must convert (encode) the
files into MPEG format; this involves choosing a video encoding bit-rate so that
the files fit the specified disc size. DVDit! selects the best video bit-rate
automatically; you can either use DVDit!’s setting or choose a lower bit-rate.
(Choosing a lower rate speeds up encoding, but produces lower quality video.)
DVDit! PE also lets you use either Dolby Digital or PCM audio (you cannot
mix both types on a disc). DVDit! selects the optimum Dolby Digital settings
automatically; you can change them, or opt to use PCM audio instead. (You
cannot choose PCM audio if the project already includes a Dolby Digital audio
file.)
If you want to include DVD-ROM files on the disc, this dialog is where you
select those files. Place all the files and folders you want to include in a single
folder somewhere on your PC’s hard drive, then select that folder in the Project
Settings dialog.
To change the project settings
1 Choose File > Project Settings. The Project settings window appears.
