User Guide
MULTIPLE TAKES
The Multiple takes mode allows you to record multiple takes. Recording starts at
the position shown in the Start field when you select the Record button, and
continues until you select the Stop button. Any data, which is currently after the
position in the Start field, will be replaced. When recording is stopped, the
start position remains at the end of the take allowing the next take to be
recorded immediately.
PUNCH-IN (RECORD A SPECIFIC LENGTH)
Punch-In mode is used when you want to record over a region of data in an
existing data window. Recording starts at the position shown in the Start field
when you select the Record button and continues until you select the Stop
button, or the length of the data recorded is equal to the length in the Length
field. This makes it easy to record over a section of audio without affecting the
rest of the file. You can use the Play button to hear the selected punch-in region
at any time.
You can adjust the punch-in region by changing the values in the Start, End, or
Length edit fields. You may also adjust the format of these fields to a variety of
different display status formats by selecting a format from the Input format drop-
down list.
Punch-In mode is the default mode when you select the Record option while you
have a region of data selected in the current data window.
USING PRE/POST-ROLL WITH PUNCH-IN MODE
At the bottom of the Record dialog are two edit fields which contain the pre-
roll and post-roll times. These can be used when listening to a section of sound
data in Punch-In mode. These times define the amount of audio you will hear
prior to (pre-roll), and just after (post-roll) playing the selected section. This
allows you to hear the transitions between the punch-in section and sound
before and after the section. Click on the check box at the bottom of the dialog
if you want to use the Review pre-/post-roll option. To disable pre-/post-roll, clear
this box.
