External Radio Unit Installation Guide
Routing and grounding the exterior cables
Grounding the ERU to the central building ground helps protect it and the
SOMAport from lightning damage.
ATTENTION:
You may be able to ground the ERU yourself. However,
if you are not completely sure of what is required, contact a qualified
electrician. Grounding is important and must be completed correctly.
Proper grounding involves:
Attaching the ground block to the wall and grounding it
Connecting the coaxial cable and grounding wire that are attached to the
ERU (as performed in the previous procedure) to the ground block
Routing the coaxial cable from the outside to the inside of the building
Connecting the coaxial cable to the SOMAport
WARNING:
The coaxial cable carries a variety of radio signals, supply
voltages, and control signals specific to the SOMAport. Do not connect the coaxial
cable to any other equipment such as cable or satellite television equipment, or
duplex or splitter boxes.
