Installing the SOMAport
Connecting multiple computers to the SOMAport
You can provide Internet service to a number of computers by using a
networking technology such as 100BaseT (Ethernet networking), 802.11b
(wireless Ethernet networking), HomeRF (wireless networking), or HomePNA
(phoneline networking). Be sure to enable all devices to have Internet access
through the Ethernet port on the SOMAport.
The following procedure describes how to connect multiple computers via an
Ethernet hub or switch.
To connect multiple computers to the SOMAport
1
Insert one end of the straight-through Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port at
the back of the SOMAport.
2
Insert the other end of the cable into an uplink port on your hub or switch.
NOTE:
To connect the SOMAport to an Ethernet port on the hub or switch
you must use a crossover cable.
