TheSolarEdgepowerharvestingsolutionmaximizesthepoweroutputfromanytypeofsolar
Photovoltaic(PV)installationwhilereducingtheaveragecostperwatt.Thefollowingsectionsdescribe
eachofthesystem’scomponents.

Power Optimiser
ThepoweroptimizersareDC-DCconvertersconnectedtoPVmodulesinordertomaximizepower
harvestingbyperformingindependentMaximumPowerPointTracking(MPPT)atthemodulelevel.
Thepoweroptimizersregulatethestringvoltageataconstantlevel,regardlessofstringlengthand
environmentalconditions.
Thepoweroptimizersincludeasafetyvoltagefunctionthatautomaticallyreducestheoutputofeach
poweroptimizerto1Vdcinthefollowingcases:
l Duringfaultconditions
l Thepoweroptimizersaredisconnectedfromtheinverter
l TheinverterON/OFFswitchisturnedOFF
l ThesafetyswitchontheSafetySwitchisturnedOFF
l TheinverterACbreakeristurnedOFF
l TheRapidShutdown(PVRSS)isinitiatedbyoneofthefollowingmethods:
o
InverterACbreakeristurnedOFF,orACtotheinverterisdisconnectedbyanothermethod
(intentionallyorasresultofafault)

InverterON/OFFswitchisturnedOFF
o
TheSafetySwitchisturnedOFF
o
