Chapter 4: Connecting the AC and the Strings
to the Safety Switch
The Safety Switch disconnects all ungrounded DC conductors in compliance with the
National Electric Code (NEC; Specifically NEC690.35, which addresses ungrounded PV
arrays). The Safety Switch is rated to the maximum operating conditions of the inverter.
Inverters of different models are equipped with different sizes/ types of terminal blocks.
The following figures illustrate several of the available Safety Switches.
