APPENDIX G: TROUBLESHOOTING 113
TROUBLESHOOTING FOR BLACKBERRY
SYMPTOM: When I perform a Bluetooth device search, the CHS does not appear in the
found devices list.
POSSIBLE REASON SOLUTION
You are using the BlackBerry Storm 9530
or other smartphone with BlackBerry OS
version previous to 5.00.714
Upgrade your BlackBerry OS to version 5.00.714 or later.
SYMPTOM: .When I try to connect the CHS, an error message says that SocketScan 10 can’t
connect to unknown device.
POSSIBLE REASON SOLUTION
The CHS is already paired to another
device.
Unpair the CHS (see Appendix F for instructions) and
delete any “Unknown devices” in the Bluetooth paired
devices list.
SYMPTOM: .When I scan a barcode, only some of the data from the barcode enters into my
application.
POSSIBLE REASON SOLUTION
Your barcode contains more than 250
characters, and the CHS does not have
enough time to decode all the data. By
default, the CHS decodes data for 5
milliseconds.
Configure the CHS to increase the time it spends
decoding data after each barcode scan.
