4 | Wi-Fi Companion
Wi-Fi Companion (WFC) is a powerful and easy-to-use utility for managing Wi-Fi
connections from your SoMo 655 handheld computer. Intuitive graphics display
connection properties at a glance. Tap on icons to quickly perform a variety of
networking tasks. For advanced users, the software also offers advanced
diagnostic tools and connection statistics.
In addition, the SoMo comes with the Enhanced Wi-Fi Companion Software (e-
WFC) pre-installed and offers the following advantages over WFC:
• Advanced authentication (including PEAP-GTC, EAP-TTLS, LEAP, and EAP-
FAST)
• WMM including transmit power control and CCKM
• Cisco CCX 4.0 compatibility
• Socket profile editor with advanced functionality

This chapter primarily refers to standard WFC and shows WFC screens. Instructions and screens
for e-WFC will be equivalent unless otherwise noted.
