SOUND
To enter and adjust the sound settings of the DB5800 press the
SOUND tab.

VOLUME
To adjust the master volume of the 8 Series press the right arrow
to increase the volume and the left arrow to decrease the volume

TOUCH SOUND
The touch screen ‘beep’ can be switched On or Off

SMART MIX
Smart mix On With smart mix On when the navigation turn by turn commands are spoken the Navigation volume will
remain at the same level BUT the DAB volume will be decreased by 50%.
Smart mix Off: With smart mix Off when navigation turn by turn commands are spoken the volume level of the
navigation AND DAB will not change.

FMT (FM Transmitter)
FM Transmitter On: All of the audio output from the DB5800 will be transmitted via FM frequency to the vehicle radio
(see
6
for tuning instructions).
E.G. If the FMT and DAB are switched On then the DAB audio will be played through the in car radio and heard through the
vehicle speakers, if this function is used in conjunction with navigation the turn by turn command will also be heard
though the vehicle speakers.
NOTE: When FM Transmitter is switched On the internal speaker of the 8 Series will be muted
FM Transmitter Off: When the FM-T is Off all of the audio output from the 8 Series will be heard through the 8 Series’s
internal speaker.

FM Frequency To transmit clear audio from the FM Transmitter, it is best to find a clear FM frequency that is not being
broadcast on and free from interference, this will reduce any possible interference. Up to 5 frequency can be stored in the
the ‘pre sets, located at

1. Press FMT On
2. Scan the FM frequencies on you vehicle radio and locate empty frequencies which, preferably, does not have any
music or talking, make a note of the frequency E,G 108.00Mhz or 87.5MHz are normally clear in the UK.
3. Press one of the pre sets

then using the left or right button

tune the FMT to one of the spare frequencies
EG 108.00MHz.
4. Repeat this to store up to 5 pre set frequencies.
To listen to the the 8 Series through the vehicle radio:
1. Tune the vehicle radio to one of the frequencies stored in the FMT presets.
2. Switch the FMT On in the SOUND menu.
3. Select, by pressing, the frequency preset

(same as frequency as in step 1)
The audio output from 8 Series should now be heard via the vehicle radio, the volume output level of the 8 Series
can be adjusted by using the volume control

RESET Press to reset the brightness to the factory defaults

EXIT Press to exit the sound menu and return to the home screen
BRIGHTNESS
The brightness of the LCD screen can be adjusted by pressing the
right (brighter) or left (dimmer) arrows.
NOTE. The brightness of the navigation screen can not be controlled in
this screen, it can only be adjusted from within the navigation menu.
If the brightness is ‘greyed out’ then you must exit navigation before
opening this menu screen.
