Introduction Congratulations on buying the Indago Portable Navigator and Fixed Speed Camera location system. This user manual aims to provide you with installation and operating instructions for the Indago. The Indago utilises the very latest Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) technology to provide you with accurate street level navigation via clear and precise voice prompts as well as alerting you to potentially hazardous stretches of road, accident blackspots and fixed speed cameras.

Registering your Indago IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ BEFORE USING YOUR INDAGO. To enable your Indago to locate Fixed Speed Cameras and Accident Blackspots you will have to register and download the EnigmaTM Camera Database. There are four ways to register your unit: Register Online Go to the official website www.indago-uk.com and register your unit online. Your unit should normally be activated within 30 minutes of registration.
Quick Start Guide to Navigation 1. Take the Indago outside, if you haven't already done so, so that the GPS receiver can locate your position. This may take up to 30 minutes the first time the Indago is used. When satellite lock is achieved the screen displays your current position on its map in a '3D' navigation view. Tip: To reduce the Ôcold startÕ GPS time remain stationary Your position (and direction) is indicated by the icon. 2. Bring up the main navigation menu by touching the centre of the screen.
Tip: The default route options are set to Quickest Route. To change the route options refer to section 6 in this manual. Click and the Indago will calculate the fastest route from your current position to your destination. This should only take a few seconds and its progress is shown on the screen. 5.
Start Up – Installing the SD Card Before using your Indago you need to install the SD Card included with the device. The SD Card comes complete with a digital map of the UK and Ireland and is also where the EnigmaTM camera database is stored if you choose to download it. Start by pushing the ‘Batt. On/Off’ switch located on the underside of the unit to the ‘on’ position, then remove the SD card from its packaging and insert it into the SD Card slot as indicated.
Downloading the Enigma Camera Database TM Plug the charger cable into the socket on the back of the Indago Please Note: You MUST subscribe to this service before you can perform a download. Performing a download is simple. 1. Connect the AC Power adapter to a mains plug socket and attach the other end to the Indago in the socket marked DC 5V. 2. Power up the Indago by pressing and holding the power button for 2 seconds and connect the computer to the Internet. 3.
Installing your Indago The Indago comes with a windscreen suction cup bracket so that the unit can be mounted on your vehicles windscreen. When installing your Indago please ensure that: • The unit, with its built in GPS antenna has a clear view of the sky* • It is located in a position where you can easily view the LCD display without having to take your eyes too far from the road ahead and that you can reach the controls safely.
The unit can be powered directly either from its internal battery if it's fully charged or powered from the cigarette lighter socket. To use the cigarette lighter socket, plug the smaller plug on one end of the power cable into the socket marked DC 5V on the back of the Indago and plug the larger plug into the cigarette lighter socket of your vehicle. Please note that no power cable other than the one provided with the Indago should be used.
Powering the Indago using the built-in battery Once the Indago has been fully charged it is ready for use. Push the ‘Batt. ON/OFF’ switch to the ‘ON’ position and press and hold the standby power switch on the left hand side of the unit for 2 seconds to activate the device. Standby power switch Low Battery Warning If the Indago is powered form the internal battery and the ‘Battery Low’ warning is displayed on the screen, the Indago has approximately 20 to 30 minutes of battery power remaining.
As the GPS engine and antenna have never been used before, the first 'Cold 'start could take anywhere from 15 Ð 50 minutes to establish a satellite connection. Once initialised, subsequent start ups will take less time and eventually should take only a matter of minutes. 2 Easy Set Up 2.1 Screen settings There are a number of views for different pieces of information that can be displayed on the screen at any one time as follows:- 3D 2D or North Current time or vehicle speed.
Next touch the icon where you will see the list of options below. To change a setting select with your finger and a list of the options available will be shown next to a tick box. Simply press on the tick box to indicate which option you would like to choose. Your chosen settings will now be saved and will appear on the screen each time you use your Indago.
3. Planning a route To enter the Navigation menu simply touch the centre of the Indago display with your finger. 3.1 Touch the centre of the Indago's screen to access the menu and then press the 'Full Post Code' icon. Next, using the onscreen keyboard, enter the full postcode of your destination then press the button. Please Note: The button on the keyboard with no character on it is the 'Space' key.
User advice By subscribing to and downloading the EnigmaTM Speed Camera database you will automatically be alerted to all 'Fixed' Cameras and other Accident Hotspots during your journey ensuring that you are always aware of the correct speed limit whilst traveling along any particularly hazardous stretches of road. 3.2 If you only know the street name and the town or city that you would like to navigate to then select this option.
Next you need to enter the Street or Road name. Press 'Street' and again type in the information using the keyboard displayed. As before the unit will automatically begin to prompt you with a list of road and street names. If the name you are searching for appears in the lower window you may select it by pressing on it with your finger. To view a more extensive list of road and street names press the down arrow as before and when you have found the name you are looking for highlight it with your finger.
The first time the ‘Home’ function is used the Indago will ask if you want to set your home location, press OK in the information window. If ‘Home’ has already been set it can be edited in My Favourites – refer to section 4 on page 26 3.4.1 You can search for your address by using one of the following options: Find Address by City or Find Address by Part Post Code.
Finally you can enter your house number by selecting ‘House No.’ and entering the number using the keyboard. Once your Indago has successfully found your address, press ‘Save’. Once your home address has been saved, your Indago will be able to calculate a route to this address. 3.5.2 To calculate a route, simply press the centre of the Indago’s display to access the menu and then select the ‘Office’ icon. The Indago will confirm the destination and offer a ‘Go’ button and a ‘Route Option’ button.
A list of your most recent routes will be shown in chronological order, use the down arrow on the right hand side of the display to scroll through the list and select the destination you would like the Indago to navigate to. An ‘Information Of Destination’ screen will appear confirming the address you have selected. If you would like to view a map of the recent destination, press ‘Map’.
page, press the return arrow located in the bottom right hand corner of the display. If you would like to change any of the route parameters press ‘Route Option’ (see Route Option on page 36 for specific instructions). To return to the ‘Information of Destination’ page press ‘Done’. Press ‘Calculate’ and the Indago will now calculate the route to your selected POI. Once the calculation is complete the summary screen is displayed.
Press the ‘Find by Category’ button and enter the type of POI you would like to navigate to. As you begin to input the POI, the device will automatically prompt you with a list of possible POI’s. If you can see the name of the POI you are searching for in the lower window you can access it easily by selecting it with your finger.
Now press ‘Search Name’ and either type the name of the POI or press the down arrow located in the top right hand corner of the display to reveal a list of possible POI’s. To select the POI press the name from the list with your finger. An ‘Information of Destination’ screen will appear confirming the POI you have selected. If you would like to view a map of the POI, press ‘Map’.
If you would like to view the map again, press ‘Map’. To return to the ‘Information of Destination’ page, press the return arrow located in the bottom right hand corner of the display. If you would like to change any of the route parameters press ‘Route Option’ (see Route Option on page 36 for specific instructions). To return to the ‘Information of Destination’ page press ‘Done’. Press ‘Calculate’ and the Indago will now calculate the route to your selected destination.
3.11.3 If you do not wish to use the alternative routes offered by the Indago and you wish to return to the original calculated route, press the ‘Clear Avoided Road’ button and the original route plotted by the Indago will be restored. Once the re-calculation of the original route is complete the summary screen is displayed.
4.1 To add an address to your ‘Favourites’, access the Menu by pressing the centre of the Indago’s display and press the ‘My Favourite’ button at the top of the display. Next press the ‘Favourites’ icon and then press ‘Add’. You can now search for the address in a variety of ways as described in previous sections. Simply search for the address in the same way that you would if you were searching for an address to navigate to. Once you have found the address, simply press ‘Save’.
4.3 This function can be used to delete any or all of the 100 user stored locations that are stored in the Indago. (For further information on saving new user points please refer to the section ‘Saving User Points’ on page 42). 4.3.1 To delete individually stored User Points Press the centre of the Indago’s display to enter the menu, press the ‘My Favourite’ button at the top of the display and then press the ‘User Points’ icon.
4.3.3 To delete ALL stored User Points Press the centre of the Indago’s display to enter the menu, press the ‘My Favourite’ button at the top of the display and then press the ‘User Points’ icon. Press the button and an information box will displayed with ‘Delete All?’ with the options of ‘OK’ and ‘Cancel’ Press the ‘Ok’ button and ALL the stored User Points will be deleted. 4.
4.5 As with the ‘Home’ function Indago can also save the address details of your place of work so that you can calculate a route with the minimum amount of fuss. Press the centre of the Indago’s display to access the Menu, select ‘My Favourite’ at the top of the display and then select the ‘Office’ icon. Next follow the instructions detailed in 4.4.1 above to add your place of work details. Again once saved, the Indago will be able to calculate a route to this address in a matter of seconds.
5.1.1 The Indago enables you to adjust the brightness of the display and save two brightness settings; one for driving during the day and one for driving at night. 5.1.2 To set the day time brightness highlight ‘DAY’ by checking the tick box and using the and buttons to adjust the setting. When you have found the desired brightness required press ‘OK’. To set the ‘NIGHT’ setting, simply check the tick box for ‘NIGHT’ and follow the same procedure. 5.
5.4 5.4.1 The ‘Setup’ function allows you to customise the visual information provided by the navigation screen. To alter any of these settings press the centre of the Indago’s display to enter the menu then press the ‘Configure’ button at the top of the display and finally press the ‘Setup’ icon. There are a number of different pieces of information that you can have displayed on the navigation screen at any one time as follows;- 5.4.1.
5.4.1.3 This option allows you to switch the information on the Indago between metric and imperial measurement. To make your selection, touch the relevant tick box with your finger. 5.4.1.4 This option allows you to display either the estimated time of arrival (ETA) or the estimated remaining time left for your journey which is displayed towards the bottom of the navigation screen. To save any of the changes press the ‘OK’ button at the bottom of the display.
5.6 Auto Scale is programmed by default to ‘On’ during manufacture. Auto Scale automatically magnifies the map as you approach a junction or roundabout, where you may need to make a turning, so that you can see it in more detail. Auto Scale can be turned on and off as you wish. To change this setting, enter the Menu by touching the centre of the Indago’s display, press the ‘Configure’ button at the top of the display. Press the arrow button and finally press the ‘Auto Scale’ icon.
5.7.3 Smart Mute You can choose between the following options: Yes: The Indago will only emit an audible tone if you are travelling above the speed limit at a safety camera location**. No: The Indago will emit a warning irrespective of speed (the vehicle must be travelling above 20 mph). GATSO 30 ** A visual warning will always be given.
5.9 You can check the health of your GPS connection at any time as well as being able to see the exact coordinates of your current position by using this feature. Access the Menu by touching the centre of the Indago’s display press the ‘Configure’ button at the top of the screen. Press the button and finally press the ‘GPS Status’ icon. Your current GPS status will then be displayed. 5.
There are a number of different options available to enable you to select either the most efficient route for you to take or to enable you to personalise the route calculated. The following options are available every time you program a route, whether you search by Post Code, City or by a POI. Simply check the tick box with your finger the feature you would like to activate. The choices are as follows: 6.1.
6.2.2 If you wish to avoid several roads from the selected route plotted by the Indago, then this facility allows you to re-calculate a route over a user defined distance ranging from 1 mile up to a maximum of 100 miles. To use this facility press the ‘Avoid by Range’ button and the ‘Select avoided Range’ page will be displayed. Select the distance of the range you wish to avoid using your finger. If you wish to see more range distances then press the down arrow on the right hand side of the display.
6.4 You can use this function if you would like to calculate a route but from a different location to the one you are currently at. First input your destination address as normal but when you reach the Summary page, press the ‘Route Option’ button. Now press the ‘Change Start Position’ icon and search for the desired start address in the same way you would as if you were searching for a normal location. Once you have found the new starting point, press the ‘Set’ button.
7.1 Volume Setting Selecting this option opens the Volume menu whereby you can increase or decrease the audio level of the unit. To adjust the volume, use your finger to press either the button to increase the volume or the button to decrease the volume. Please note that this new setting is only temporary and if the Indago is switched off and then back on the audio level returns to either the factory default or your personalised setting.
8.0 Understanding the Mapping Screen Distance to next junction or instruction Whilst navigating a calculated route the Indago display will show an orange information box. This box will tell you the next road you should be travelling on and the distance to that turn. The screen will also show you either expected time of arrival or the time left to go. The distance left to your destination will also be displayed. The red line on the map indicates the route you will be taking, clearly and precisely.
9.0 Speed Camera Alert Patterns To enable your Indago to alert you to Fixed Speed Cameras and Accident Blackspots you will have to register and download the EnigmaTM Camera Database. 9.1 Fixed Safety Cameras As you approach the safety camera the unit will begin to provide both a voice alert stating the type of camera you are approaching and the fixed speed limit for that camera and a visual alert displaying the same information.
9.4.1 Troubleshooting – Saving New User Points When you attempt to save the new User Point and the display reads ‘Memory Full’ it means that the memory in your Indago is completely full. If you want to store any different coordinates you will have to either delete some or all of the existing coordinates stored in the unit’s memory.
Troubleshooting Downloads If you are having any difficulty in performing a download onto your Indago unit it is advisable to refer to the checklist in Section A first before contacting us. If you are still unable to perform a download after following all of this checklist then please send an email to indagotechnical@performanceproducts.co.uk stating the nature of your difficulty.
6. Have you installed the Indago download software on your PC? If you have not installed the software you will not be able to perform a download to your Indago. Once the software is installed there will be a new icon in your system tray which is located at the bottom right hand side of your desktop near the system clock.
