CHOKE TUBES
WARNING: ALWAYS ENSURE THAT THE FIREARM IS
UNLOADED BEFORE INSTALLING ANY ACCES-
SORIES. FAILURE TO DO THIS CAN CAUSE PERSON-
AL INJURY OR DEATH TO YOU OR OTHERS.
Choke tubes are used to control the shot pattern (size of shot
grouping). Smith & Wesson has included 5 different chokes.
Included are:
(1) F (Full) Tightest shot pattern
(2) IM (Improved Modified)
(3) M (Modified)
(4) IC (Improved cylinder)
(5) C (Cylinder) Widest shot pattern
REMOVAL OF THE CHOKE TUBE
Unscrew the choke tubes by turning them counterclockwise
(as viewed from the muzzle end) using the supplied choke
wrench tool (Figure 34 & 35).
Make sure that the choke tube and the threads on the barrel
are clean and oiled.
Install the choke tube by turning it clockwise into the barrel
(Figure 37) using the supplied choke wrench tool, tighten into
the barrel until it is slightly recessed. Do not over-tighten.
