1.3 Microwaves
The appliance is equipped with a
microwave generator called a magnetron.
The microwaves generated are evenly
emitted into the oven cavity in order to
reach the food and heat it.
Heating takes place through the process of
friction between the molecules contained
within the food (mainly water molecules),
with the consequent generation of heat.
The heat generated directly inside the food
allows defrosting, re-heating or cooking in
a shorter length of time compared to
traditional cooking.
The use of suitable containers for
microwave cooking allows the microwaves
to reach the food in a uniform manner (see
2.2 Materials suitable for microwaves).
