Brake inspection and adjustment
Brakes are items of personal safety and should always be
maintained in proper adjustment.
1 Front brake
a. Raise the front wheel off the ground by placing
a support block under the engine, spin the front
wheel by hand and measure the amount of the
front brake lever free play until the wheel starts to
take hold.
The lever free play is 10~20mm(0.4~0.8 in) at
the end of the brake lever and if the actual
measurement exceeds the range, adjust the
brake.
b. If adjustment is necessary, turning the front
brake adjusting nut –4– in the clockwise direction
will decrease the free play.
NOTE:
MAKE SURE THAT THE CUT-OUT ON THE ADJUSTING NUT
IS SEATED ON THE BRAKE ARM PIN AFTER THE FINAL
ADJUSTMENT HAS BEEN MADE.
